What are some good seafood places, preferably with an ocean view, in and around Ensenada?

fdt - 6-24-2016 at 11:18 PM

Restaurant Bahia Ensenada at the corner of 1st and Riverol

Muelle Tres on the north end of the Malecon

You might also want to try La Conchera, excellent shellfish selection. Located next to Mario's Silver Shop, Calle Primera y Gastelum Zona Centro Ensenada

These people always have the freshest of seafoods. Most of the time they are packed. I have eaten there many times. Yes, it is a stand on a corner but absolutely worth eating while standing.

For elegant dining and a superb ocean view try the restaurant at Hotel Punta Morro. This is north of downtown by the university (UABC ). Watch for the signed turnoff. The ocean view beats any of the downtown locations.

Have always enjoyed Mariscos Sinaloaense on the highway just south of town. Not sure it's still there.

It is ironic that a seaport has almost no ocean view seafood restaurants. The recommendation of Hotel Punta morro is a good one, if you like the ocean view, but will pay more for it.

Muelle Tres has little or no ambience as it is in an area that is mostly industrial.

Lacking ocean view, the El Rey Sol has some very good seafood. As does Las Cazuelas on Sanguines. But I'm not certain that Las Cazuelas is still open for dinner. They have won international awards for their seafood, dating back into the 1980's. They are also famous for tremendous breakfasts. It has a very clubby, homey atmosphere.

The recommendation of Hotel Punta morro is a good one .............very limited "seafood" selection, and expensive

Muelle Tres has little or no ambience as it is in an area that is mostly industrial.......Actually, it is located on the Malecon in the harbor area....where the seafood and shellfish come in every morning. Each order is made while you wait, nothing pre-cooked. Get there early when they open, as everybody in the "industrial" area fills the place

El Rey Sol has some very good seafood..........very expensive and their food sucks

Their mixed seafood soup (lots of shrimp) is very good. A medium bowl and a green salad is a great and filling meal for around $10. Off street parking with an attendant.

Muelle Tres is not in an industrial area. It is located at the north end of the new MALECON. Behind their place is a shellfish processor, who gets many daily loads of shell fish. To the south are all the fish taco stands, and the famous fish market. The newly built MALECON will also receive a large monument that will pretty much cover the street vendors in front of the fish market (between the fish market and the marina water).

The original on Sanguines just up from the navy base. Right side of the road. Next to a great donut shop, if you are looking for dessert.

it is good...but I don't dig dining in such "industrialized" areas!
donut shop next door? best 'effin donuts ANYWHERE!

TecateRay - 6-26-2016 at 05:52 PM

You can't miss with Mahi Mahi in the downtown area near Hussongs👍

TUTTI DONAS......apple fritters. YUMO

Udo - 6-26-2016 at 06:26 PM

The donut shop was really good.
But we just ate at that Las Cazuelas...fish and pork were dry. The chicken had some great flavor, but they forgot to put the meat underneath the skin.

I think they changed chefs, owners or something. The service was also below par.

I was hoping I was at a wrong Las Cazuelas, because I had seen several raving reports on the place. The only really good food item was their carrot soup which was almost a bisque.

Check out Ke Donas, on Reforma, just north of Tacos Original. Probably the best apple fritters I have had in Baja......cinnamon rolls are pretty good also

No No....don't listen. Tuttis has a huge trophy for best apple fritters in the entire world. It even has a man bowling a ball on top.

willardguy - 6-26-2016 at 09:25 PM

Tutti's should be on miramar....;)

DENNIS - 6-27-2016 at 07:01 AM

I have no actual news, but the original owner was getting on in age, and may not be around anymore. I believe that he gave over the day to day to his nephew who did not to a particularly good job, forcing the old guy to come back and take over. Last I know.
