San Felipe stopover

Fishndad - 7-30-2016 at 02:05 PM

Looking for a clean inexpensive hotel on the south end of San Felipe to Puertecitos for 1 night. Emailed Alfonsinas and they are wanting $100usd for 2 double bed room. Hoping to spend a little less.

Any insight would be appreciated!

El Capitan in San Felipe is popular here. Nothing between SF and Gonzaga as far as motels go.

Make sure to get a room with GOOD AC.
Very few places in Baja have QUIET AC.

I would consider paying the $100 at Alfonsinas.
Clean and right on the water.
Excellent fish and shrimp taco, too!

I stayed at El Capitan last month and the AC was good. I had to turn it down it got so cold. Room was about $40.

If you have never been to Alfonsinas, It is a real treat, and well worth

Sounds like it fits my budget! Any Idea if they allow dogs?

I don't know about pets at the El Capitan. But you could ask.

Thanks for the suggestions. Have an email out to El Capitan. Will give Alfonsinas a try when my wife travels down with me.

Two years ago El Capitan was dog friendly, but it would be good to hear it straight from them.

Kiki's is pretty nice for about $55 a night. On the water just north of the malecon.

Kiki's is my #1 choice....on the water, a few blocks from downtown...and his newer units across the street are very nice, too.

That looks nice Ged... I have not been beyond the ice house to see that part of town... I am always headed south!

El Cortez not El Crapitan

The Sandollar is a nice place. Just south of town on your way try it I think you won't be dissapointed.

KasloKid - 9-24-2016 at 11:29 PM

Hey Ged... when did Kiki build and open more units across the street?

Alfonsina's is way south of San Felipe and Puertocitos. There is no place I am aware of in between. There are plenty of places to stay in SF. My favorite is El Cortez.

Kiki's has my vote as well and is pet friendly . El Cortez charged me $85 and is not pet friendly....I would rather stay in Gonzaga for $15 more (they are not pet friendly). I have found most hotels in San Felipe to be over priced for what they offer. North of town, Sky Blue is a budget hotel that we have stayed at for $500 pesos and is pet friendly.

Sky Blue

Decent, inexpensive, conveniently north of town 5 or 6 miles.

We also like El Capitan, except that on a Friday or Saturday night the casino a few doors down and across the street can be a bit noisy late into the night. Of course since I've aged a bit the noise is more bothersome even with my poorer hearing.

Langosta Roja on the main drag. We stayed there in Oct. reasonable room for a good price. The Italian restaurant owner has just started selling limoncello he makes. We brought a bottle home, it is powerful stuff!
