I've camped and also rented one of the cabin at Archelon in BOLA many times over the years. I know Antonio passed away. I am thinking
about spending another NYE in BOLA and was wondering how the camp is doing?David K - 8-3-2016 at 08:46 AM
Would like to hear also...
A little Internet searching:

The camp is doing well, Bety his wife and his son Angel are keeping it going.

Email Betty few months ahead, ask to book a cabana. During holidays they are popular with locals. She doesn't speak any English - at least, I never
heard. The best cabanas in the area, right on the water and reasonably priced.
If they have some plans to get rid of tourists and sell to gringos whatever still remains of the camp (which is not much), this isn't going to happen
fast. Booking is desirable anyway.David K - 8-11-2016 at 12:17 PM
Given the options as a place to camp with palapas and showers/toilets, is Archelon a good choice? What are the other options for palapa camping on the
beach? Daggett's, others?
THANK YOU!
Used to camp at Gecko, but that was 11-15 years ago before the camping ended there. I don't blame Doc at all, but miss hanging with Nomads around the
campfire and sipping cheap tequila with Mike Humfreville, Travelpearl, Bedman, 4baja, and Beach Bob! Oh, and having Paulina toss in a few "magic
rocks" for color ...

Those two are about it for camping with facilities. They are right next to each other which makes it easy to compare and see what you prefer.
Archelon is geared more for tent or very small RV camping as space is tight in the campground and would be difficult for a large RV. There's also a
new place just south of Los Vientos hotel that may have facilities but I haven't been in there. The government camp and Punta Arena
campground/restaurant (which had toilets/showers) washed away with Odile.David K - 8-12-2016 at 11:20 AM
Thank you bkbend.
Archelon sound like the ticket.
La Ventana (where Baja Calender Marv lives) had palapa camping but they are not on the water, and that was a long time ago. It is next to Los Vientos
hotel (or whatever came of that place).Alm - 8-13-2016 at 12:14 PM
The tourist area on the Ruben Daggets land has palapas, but Archelon is nicer. No cabanas at Ruben's.
