It depends on how long the line is - you may have to make several passes to find an opening. Not a great answer, I know, but unfortunately the truth . . .

What the heck happened to the ready lanes at Otay? Traffic increased by three times since June.

Everyone with the older, non-chipped passports are now getting new ones or passport cards. The chipped passport books came out close to 10 years ago... not long after we got our previous passports (2006).

The easiest way to the Ready Lane is:

Once you exit Blvd 2000 you will be on Industrial Blvd (MX 2)

Proceed west on Industrial, up and over the business overpass. Once you descend the overpass there will be a McDonalds on your right (a great place for a rest/potty stop)

Continue west past the McDonalds; you will also pass a Carl's Jr on your right.

After you pass the Carl's Jr merge right on Via de la Juventud Ote as if you were going to the TJ airport.

Once on Via de la Juventud Ote, you will pass a school on your right, and just past the school there is a "T" intersection going to your right

Turn right at the "T" intersection, the street name is Alejandro Humbolt......continue straight. This will set you up for the Ready Lane

the ready lane was backed up to the airport around the corner past the ballpark all the way back down to industrial!:O

as far as the sentri goes...does the macdonalds road lead directly into the sentri lane? daughter's coming this weekend and she's been going up to belle artes but macdonalds sounds easier??

No. The Sentri lane can only be accessed off of Bellas Artes just east of the bridge carrying the other lanes over Bellas Artes.

Good directions.

Only thong id add is
1. Landmark at Humbolt to turn is Mariscos Negro Durazo

2. You can also access Humbolt by turning right at the Carls Jr - unless its really backed up, you can get in ready lane and Humbolt there. If backed beyond that intersection, you gotta go around

regular lanes were a quarter the length of the readylanes, it would be interesting to know the time difference! (and of course I had to pick the lane with the FNG) :(

If the TJ police are monitoring traffic, and Humboldt is backed up I have seen vehicles that tried to cut the line by using the Carl's Jr turn sent back to Industrial Blvd (Hwy 2) get at the end of the line

For the last year we have been using a work-around to the SENTRI lane from the McDonalds that is pretty easy and avoids Bella Artes and sets you up for a straight shot to the SENTRI Lane access by the car wash

crossed Monday the 8th at 2:30 in the Otay ready lanes and it took us 2.5 hours. Its a good thing we scored with the surf for a week but this was the longest crossing time in a few years.

Bajahowodd - 8-16-2016 at 04:40 PM

Have many times stopped to pee the McDonald's before getting in line.

I still. to this day, do not understand why our government needs to screw with people so much at the border.

There is absolutely no evidence that terrorists are crossing the border into the US.

The increased border vigilance only causes reduced business SOB.
