mtgoat666 - 8-17-2016 at 05:54 PM

Cults come in many shapes and sizes. Cults are used by creative people to fleece the masses. It's all legal. It will never change.

You got the tivinds and their "charity" building vacation palaces for the leaders in Baja.

You got scientologists, Catholics, Presbyterians, baptists, Muslims, etc... All run by people using fairy tails to drum up dollars and support from their flocks

They call them flocks for a reason. Dumb herd animals will follow just about anything.

You got the Chargers and Padres fleecing the San Diego numbot sports fans to give them a free stadiums in San Diego.

You got trump rounding up the uneducated to vote for and and donate to his nationalistic hate movement.

You got the NRA creating a cult of small-dicked gun worship for no reason but to make gun mfgs richer and at same time give republicans a false message to spin their own fleecing of donors,...

Some of the religious and closed cults are a bit more palatable as they keep to themselves and rarely seek to spread political power.

The locals must have a reasons for tolerating a weirish secretive cult in Baja. What is the reason? It all comes down to money.

Every four years around this time, we see the two most ridiculous cults in the world have at it in the USA.

Love it. Excellent points.

How abhorrent that funds would be diverted like this! I sure am glad that someone finally decided to speak up.

BajaMama - 8-18-2016 at 03:03 PM

Don't forget the FLDS - they have compounds in Baja, too.

tiotomasbcs - 8-18-2016 at 03:16 PM

And don't forget Surfers and Sun Worshippers!

pauldavidmena - 8-18-2016 at 03:27 PM

Todos Santos has its own Ukulele Club. If you don't think that's a cult, you've been tiptoeing in the tulips a bit too long.

SFandH - 8-18-2016 at 03:30 PM

Tiny Tim lives in Todos Santos?

Is he an arteest now?

woody with a view - 8-18-2016 at 07:16 PM

I'd love to but work gets in the way, again. Instead, we'll be at The Cult opening for GunsNflockinRoses on Monday at the Q.

Ateo - 8-18-2016 at 08:23 PM

We just need a little Patience.

Terry28 - 8-19-2016 at 09:19 AM

or we will take you to the jungle.........
Jon, can I join your cult??

[Edited on 8-19-2016 by Terry28]

Ateo - 8-19-2016 at 02:03 PM

Terry, of course you can join my cult. But I will need access from time to time to your Baja compound to prove your allegiance. =)

Maybe sometime in the cold November Rain.

Every trip south when the boards are strapped on tight I always play this tune after we hit the dirt building up until we get to the beach:

And don't forget their founders who still have clandestine contact with them from Salt Lake City too. Don't believe for one minute they don't; (Play "Mission Impossible" theme here). One of the largest cults in the world.... almost made the POTUS.

From your lofty vantage point....

John M - 8-19-2016 at 05:31 PM

Mtgoat666 - it must be uplifting for your ego to denigrate those you may not agree with - certainly you are not in a cult of one with your views but it seems that you place yourself and your tenets on a level far superior to many of us.

If I played that song I would be at 100 mph when I hit the beach. I stopped listening to music like that on my dirt bike too. I must be easily influenced. Lol

Bajahowodd - 8-21-2016 at 05:03 PM

It absolutely amazes me that groups like FLDS and many other Christian fundamentalist groups have made such major inroads in a country that has been historically Roman Catholic. Must be related to poverty.

Barry A. - 8-22-2016 at 08:33 AM

My daughter who has a Masters in Business Admin and is the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of a Corporation became a strong Evangelical Christian in her mid-30's. (she is now 56) She has never had any particular stress or poverty in her life.

My son who has his LLD (law degree) and was the single Legislative Attorney for the Fed. States of Micronesia, and then the Tribal Attorney for the Hoopa Tribe in N. CA (etc.) became an Evangelical Christian in his late '40's, (now 53) and had no real stress or poverty in his life ever.

Both these kids were not religious prior, and neither their mom or dad (me) were, or are, particularly religious..

I don't understand it, but I totally support their decisions because it made both much happier and giving to other's i.e.. it improved their lives.
