Last weekend were the Traditional Fiestas in BA which we sure enjoyed as Sirenita, her esposo Julio and new baby Santigo were here for a week. As
usual our Nomad amigo Reno Joe came to town to enjoy the festivities. On his first day here, he and his sidekick Roberto got into some nice yellowtail
so we could all eat fresh sashimi! Capt. Juan Arce reports yellowtail are all over the area now...wide open bite!
My favorite event is the horse races...here we all are groovin to the Oom PaPa of the band playing for us.
It was my one month old grandson SAntiago's first Fiesta and horse races...actually the word Santiago is what they say at the beginning of a race kind
of like...And They're Off! cool eh.
Joe had great success winning money off me at the horse races too...in both races! here was the first one I lost.
and Joe collecting his winnings
Joe checking out the horses for the next race
Here is the queen of the fiestas singing a tune too...love that crown!
you can bust out a dance anywhere!
There were bands playing every day and night....here is one at the beach events which included greased pole climb, and this race called the cucaracha
where you had to guzzle a beer at 4 checkpoints.

SAturday night a bunch of our family went to the dance that had 2 fantastic show bands...we were the first ones to leave about 5:15 in the morning!
Reno Joe is known for his gluttony & managed to eat the world famous shrimp tacos every single day at TAcos Don Ramon's!
and Santiago slept through his first ever shrimp taco
a few of the regulars for tacos the last day...Rossman is one of their best clients!
It was a fun week and I highly recommend you all to attend these Fiestas Tradicionales if you come across one.

What rib cook off ?BajaMama - 8-29-2016 at 07:24 AM
RenoJoe, the annual rib cook off in Reno/Sparks, always over the Labor Day Weekend! (We used to live in Reno, our daughter is there). RenoJoe - 8-29-2016 at 10:09 PM
I'll be in Washington visiting my daughters and grandchildren this year. I'm at the cook off most of the most of the time. And hot August nights every
year.
