Tomorrow may be better. It's a gamble.

That's a lot of carne asada. Are you throwing a big party this Independence Day weekend?

BigBearRider - 9-20-2016 at 06:58 AM

Wow.

David K - 9-20-2016 at 08:18 AM

This past week, we saw Pemex exchange rates posted from 16.5:1 (in Baja Sur) to 18.5:1 (those high ones were in Ensenada and Tecate).

We had pre-purchased pesos at 17.805:1 at Costco the first week of September.

SFandH - 9-20-2016 at 09:32 AM

This must be tough on the Mexicans. Double whammy, comparatively weak peso and crude oil at $43.

Usual presumption in the 3rd world is that all gringos are rich. You didn't try convincing them otherwise, didn't ask about the price before buying, so they did what they normally do :)

That is a very low price. In the US, it would be close to $1,000.

Also, how many pesos was it?

I absolutely knew the price in MXN but I got the quote on a thurs and the tires installed on the following mon. The USD vs MXN had changed for the better. Bye the way you would have to be a stupid rich american if you didn't ask the price before buying a set of tires.

In the 3rd world, the average American is rich. Fact.
In Mexico, a retired gringo scraping by on social security alone is getting by on a whole lot more than most Mexicans earn.

Thanks. I was quoted 13,480 at Tersa in Loreto yesterday, without tire insurance. Colima is a long way to drive for the extra savings...
