Sad ILove Baja and the people are great and I would be safer there than half the states in the us, is there a phone I can get to use in Baja to make
the wife happy and she can call me and I can call her to let her know I am safe. She only seen the bad and not the good, if we keep using the drugs
the drugs will cross the border. My only choice is to post on Craigslist uuuugggggg. Me a tiny home in bola and I can move anywhere I want to, when I
can head that way I would like pick up mail and so many things I see people need. One wale shark can keep me happy all winter.

Satellite phones can be rented... and work anywhere outside. Marland had one and I talked to my wife from Camp Archelon, Bahia de los Angeles, on it.SlyOnce - 9-27-2016 at 03:17 PM
I have a MX phone, it looks like a Blackberry, I have a 664-xxx-xxxx TJ number, its a pay as you go plan on Movistar. The phone cost $US 40 at MX
Walmart. About 100 pesos a month at any OXXO and you are good to go. I have this for emergencies, since we always talk on Whatsapp.
If you have wi fi available, most everyone I know that is just slightly technical uses Whatsapp. My MX wife and I have it on our iPhones (any smart
phone) and you can call or text MX to US free (however being in a free wi fi zone or with a data plan is required). Your wife in US will need
Whatsapp too on her smartphone.SFandH - 9-27-2016 at 04:06 PM

Verizon has an "international plan". you sign up for it in the states, when you cross the border the plan activates itself and you get a message
within maybe 15 minutes of crossing that the plan is in effect. Just like insurance, the cost is for a 24 hour period beginning when it's activated.
Only $2.00 per 24 hour period, and ONLY if you use the phone. No limit on phone calls. We've used it several times. It will work wherever there is
cell service - (not necessarily Verizon) mostly the bigger cities - we use it in San Felipe all the time.
Other providers may have a similar plan.
As David K said, a satellite phone is another option. Renting isn't inexpensive but worth every penny if you need it. It'll work anywhere if you get
the right phone - I'd suggest one that uses the Iridium satellite network. TW has another he got from SPOT - it uses a different satellite system and
sometimes the service was marginal.
We've rented from a company "Satmodo" in San Diego. Subsequently we purchased one from them for what we think is a decent deal. U2U if you want more
info.
