BajaCactus Cultural Fiesta 2005...!!!

BajaCactus - 2-2-2005 at 09:47 PM

Hi everyone... I have been extremely busy and have missed being a part of this forum... however sometimes I take a quick glance at the posts and DavidK has been keeping me informed as well...thanks David.

Last year, as you may remember, a lot of friends came down to Tijuana to the BajaCactus Cutural Fiesta 2004...we had a wonderful time by the way.

This year, I planned to do something special for you in El Rosario... using as a theme the foundation of the Mision de Nuestra Se?ora del Rosario de Vi?adaco, which in a way gave birth to the town of El Rosario.

Well... you are the first ones to know... I managed to get the PEOPLE OF TOWN involve in this... and in my last trip to El Rosario, we finally set up a comittee and began working on it.

As a courtesy to the people and to my fellow businesses in town, I agreed to change the name to Baja Rosario Festival 2005!!... it will be held on the 22nd, 23rd and 24th of july.

We are planning to have guided tours to the local and surroundings missions ruins and cave paintings, rodeo shows (a tradition to locals), an expo food with local home made meals, the coronation of the first queen town, camping on the beach, parties, dancing, traditional dancings shows, mechanical fair and many, many thing we are still working on....:bounce:

In El Rosario, there have been few small celebrations of different kind, but as far as anyone can remember, this will be the first time a celebration of the foundation of the town will be held, everyone is very excited and you are all invited...:)

Well, that is what I have at this time, I will post more information as it becomes available.

Antonio M.

Antonio your just too kind. We will be there. Will need a room also. For sure I will bring Apple pies. Hugs Cyndarouh

This is a new beginning for El Rosario... which always has been a gateway to the exciting central peninsula of Baja California!

As I discovered last Thanksgiving weekend, El Rosario itself is a wonderful destination for numerous interesting side trips and adventures... http://vivabaja.com/1104

Last August, many of us were privilaged to attend Antonio's first event for Baja Nomads, The Baja Cactus Cultural Fiesta in Tijuana at CECUT and PALMAZUL... http://vivabaja.com/fiesta

Earlier last year, Antonio and his family had invited a few of us for an initial meeting to discuss how his Baja Cactus tourist services in El Rosario could meet the needs of the Baja bound travelers and to start a personal relationship with the Baja Nomads. JR Baja invited us to use his and Carol's sea side home for the meeting... http://vivabaja.com/bajacactus The hospitality was outstanding!

I look forward to attending the July event, in El Rosario! If I can show you to any of the sites pictured in my 1104 web page, it would be my pleasure. Naturally a tour of both mission sites in Rosario would be tops on the list.

Most of us have only known El Rosario as a great place to fill our gas tanks... Now, we will know El Rosario as a great place to have a festival!

BajaNomad - 2-3-2005 at 02:12 AM

Room reservation please.

Away from the highway and the big rig jake brakes. ;)

Neal Johns - 2-3-2005 at 04:22 AM

I'm in! I will leave the rooms for people that need them - I carry my room on my back:

Room

John M - 2-3-2005 at 06:33 AM

Antonio, would you please put a room for two nights for Barbara and John Marnell?

bajaandy - 2-3-2005 at 08:14 AM

Antonio,

Count us in! If you still have any rooms, I would like to reserve one for my wife and I.
Ever since you told me about having the 2005 Fiesta in El Rosario when we stayed with you back in December, I have been waiting to hear confirmation of the dates. If this fiesta is anything like the last one, then it will truly be an event not to be missed.
I can't wait!

yankeeirishman - 2-3-2005 at 08:28 AM

Antonio..
This sounds swell. We having not ever been there...can you post some pics? And is there a spot(s) for us ruggetnecks to camp? This would be a good time for me to meet some of the Nomads.

LOOK HERE: http://vivabaja.com/1104
There is secure parking in the motel compound, next door to the Pemex station (which is also part of Baja Cactus, El Rosario).

Bob H - 2-3-2005 at 04:00 PM

Antonio, this sounds great! If we can make it we will be in our cabover camper. Like David said, many of us just know El Rosario as a place to buy gas and eat a couple of tacos. It will be fantastic to learn more about this area of Baja.

Neal Johns - 2-3-2005 at 04:41 PM

Yep, Grover,

That is a '99 Taco with a 2" lift, 32" BFGs, a 5'2" wife and a Phoenix camper.

CAMPING during Baja Rosario Festival 2005...

David K - 2-3-2005 at 06:10 PM

After seeing how quickly rooms are being reserved for the July festival, I called Antonio at noon today with the news... I mentioned a couple people wanted to camp. Antonio said arrangements will be made to have camping at La Bocana beach, less than 4 miles from El Rosario. Trash cans and porta potty will be set out. El Rosario's three motels will be booked up pretty fast, so this secure camping option will be welcomed. That beach is so beautiful anyway! Here it was, last November...

Wow!!!

BajaCactus - 2-3-2005 at 10:34 PM

Thank you very much for your enthusiasm.... this makes me work even harder to have the best prepare for all of you guys....

Tim40, Cyndarouh, Doug, BajaAndy, John M and DavidK.... I already put your names down for room reservations... I will contact you soon to see the details...

BobH, Yankeeirishman, Neal Johns and Grover... as soon as I have more info on the different places we will have for camping and RV's, I will post it here so you let me know your preferences...

It is very nice that we all are going to meet again...

Thanks again everyone for your strong support and trust in us.

Remembering that beach

akbear - 2-4-2005 at 12:43 AM

David K,
We slept on that beach in '69 in the K-Bar-S bronco that we picked up after a race. We landed on Laguna Chappla were the drivers had left it broken down. We drove to that beach & listen to Wolfman Jack on the AM radio while we went to sleep.
;)

David K - 2-4-2005 at 07:43 AM

Yah, in 1969 I listened to Wolfman Jack every night too... 50,000 watts, XERB, Rosarito, Baja California, Mexico! I just loved hearing the Baja California part!

The Man!

yankeeirishman - 2-4-2005 at 08:10 AM

OMG! We used to listen to the Wolf man on Friday nights while cruising PCH1 (Pacific Coast Highway 1). His howls were legendary

bajaandy - 2-4-2005 at 08:51 AM

Thank you Antonio!
And by the way, please don't charge MY room to David K.... I'd hate to have to pay THAT much for my next bumper sticker! HA!:bounce:

yankeeirishman - 2-4-2005 at 08:55 AM

David K - 2-4-2005 at 08:57 AM

Thank you Andy!:D

I will be passing through Escondido shortly on my way to a job in Rancho Bernardo/Poway... flag me for another free sticker as I pass by!

I am running late this morning because I have a slow rising son, to get to school!

To Antonio-reservations

Jack Swords - 2-4-2005 at 10:02 AM

Antonio,

Please reserve a room for Jack and Mary Kay Swords for this event....wouldn't miss it. Any accomodations will be fine.

I am also writing your e-mail adress for the same reservation.

Muchas gracias...

Jack Swords

Interested in the camping arrangements

Hook - 2-4-2005 at 10:40 AM

...at La Bocana. Please keep us all posted on the details.

It's time a large contingent of campers to exorcise that area of it's karma. I will fashion a talisman beforehand.

BTW, Antonio, please consider not having any really major events before noon on the 22nd. That way there is a chance that those leaving the States on Friday morning can make it. Otherwise, we worker bees would have to take Thursday off to make any early Friday events.

[Edited on 2-4-2005 by Hook]

Ok...

BajaCactus - 2-5-2005 at 11:41 AM

Hook,

Do not worry... at this moment we have the inauguration of the festivities planned for friday 22nd at 2:00 pm....I do not expect for this to change...

When I have the complete itineray of events for that weekend, I will post it here...along with available locations for camping and RV parking.

Thanks again everyone...

Antonio M.

academicanarchist - 2-5-2005 at 03:55 PM

I would sure like to come. We will see how things develop during the summer if I can make it towards the end of July.

Great, Antonio!

Hook - 2-7-2005 at 11:05 AM

David K - 4-14-2005 at 05:52 PM

Just bringing this up, as it needs to be considered for your late July Baja plans...

Baja Bernie - 4-14-2005 at 07:03 PM

Antonio,
I know that I am slow but that is what age does to you. I would really appreciate it if you could see your way clear to finding a quiet room for me and my bride for all three days during this historic event. I have always felt badly that my foot didn't allow me to attend the great event in Tijuana.
Tu Amigo,
Bernie (Normal Nomad)
Saludos tu su Papa

David K - 4-15-2005 at 07:42 AM

Bernie, do send an email to reserve the room motel*at*bajacactus.com, as Antonio has not been posting on Nomad since his baby arrived... I have been having a difficult time trying to reach him by phone, as well.

David K - 4-15-2005 at 07:45 AM

Actually, as emails have been unanswered, best to telephone the motel in Rosario directly for reservations the number is listed on the web site: http://www.bajacactus.com

surfer jim - 4-15-2005 at 08:52 AM

Will there be time for a side trip to "LAS PINTAS".....

Beach camping sounds good to me also.......

David K

Baja Bernie - 4-15-2005 at 10:13 AM

Thanks

neilmac - 4-15-2005 at 02:37 PM

Say, how's the road into La Bocana?

Any chance of getting in with a 2wd camper?

Neil

Everything back on track!!!

BajaCactus - 4-15-2005 at 03:25 PM

I just re-join the organization of this Fiesta for July...everything is right on scheduled...

Bernie and everyone who contacted me for room and camping reservations.... DO NOT WORRY... I have a room already reserved for you all at BajaCactus, as well as spots at La Bocana... I still need to finish up some little things, as soon as I am done, I will contact you with the details for those room reservation, for now, please do not worry, I have you on my list.

Please do not call the motel, because of all the people we are expecting, we are trying direct all the reservations for the different motels in the area thru one phone line. We also have arrangements with motels in San Quintin, so when El Rosario is all booked up, we will have another options over there.

Regarding Las Pintas... we are trying to organize guided tours to those places...however we just heard that all those beautiful cave paintings were vandalized and robbed... we are not sure yet, we are planning a trip soon to confirm.

La Bocana will most likely be setup as a camping area, and we are planning to have the road there fixed for small cars to go thru.

I will post more info and details as soon as we have all set put and confirmed....in about three weeks I believe.

Thank you everyone for your enthusiasm.

Antonio M.
