Mexico City Fish Market - La Nueva Viga

BajaBlanca - 10-9-2016 at 03:08 PM

Who knew that La Nueva Viga is the second largest fish market in the world? We didn't until our friend Arthur from England expressed an interest in seeing the local fish market. Called La Nueva Viga, the vendors set up at 3, customers arrive from 6 am on. So many varieties of seafood it is truly remarkable!

I have many photographs if you want more

and I was on a Mission to find La Bocana or at least BCS Abalone and I did - it costs $850 a can and everyone there knew I would find it at stall #53

We are having so much fun and we have done incredible things this trip - as I find time, I will share.

Ain't life grand?

Blanca, Don't miss the San Juan market downtown. Lots of specialty imported and hard to find products including fresh morel mushrooms. If you've never had them you are in for a treat. Think better than the finest fillet mignon. In my opinion the coffee vendor has some of the best I've ever tasted. High quality serrano ham available as well as other gourmet items from Spain. Great place for lunch too.

Well, there is a problem!! That Mex City Jurel is not Yellowtail, it`s Jack Crevalle, and hate to say it but it looks horrible!!! But sure is cheap. Not human food looks like!!
Other than that, thanks and keep us posted!!
