Baja Surfcasting/Exploration Trip January 2017

courage146 - 10-11-2016 at 09:48 AM

Hello,
we are driving down from Vancouver Island in mid Januar. Our intent is to beach/rock fish from Ensenada to Loreto. Im looking for good locations and tips for our trip. We are driving a Dodge Caravan so 4x4 roads are not an option. We are looking for spots that are good fishing as well as our overnight destination. Either camping or motels. Thank you in advance.
cheers

Almost anywhere you can get to the water can hold fish. The right gear helps improve your odds of catching though. Try browsing some of the So. Cal surf fishing sites for set ups and lures. When you hit a beach ask a local there where you can catch fish. A peso lure at a fish camp can bring in a nice haul of fresh fillets. Have fun....
Oh, and welcome to the Nomads

Hola paisano and welcome to the Nomad sandbox...good to have another Islander on board! Where is your home port? I hope you survived the super storm and bet you will be glad to get into nicer weather for awhile.

Stop by Bahia Asuncion for some fine shore and rock fishing and have a cold one with other VI folks in the village too. We can dial you into some great spots.

Just be careful camping in remote areas in northern baja especially as there are some dubious spots. Check out Sta.Rosalillita...nice and safe and good surf and fishing and more paisanos there too.

Thanks for all the great info! We are from Nanaimo. The storm that recently hit was over exaggerated. At least on the mid east coast.
Looks like we may have to put Bahia Asuncion and Santa Rosalitta on our list of stops as well. We cant wait as the weather is getting dismal here.
cheers!
