Squeaky brakes....La Paz fix?

8knots - 10-19-2016 at 07:55 PM

Just got in today after drive from WA State. All went well...other than crazy NW weather and crazy So Cal driving. However, day before crossing into Baja my brakes began squeaking. It became more consistent and now happens whenever depressing the bake pedal. Actually squeaks when beginng to depress and then lessens as getting closer to full stop. 2006 F350 Super Duty pulling small offroad trailer. Will be down here unti June and wondering if anyone can recommend a relaiable brake place in La Paz or Cabo?

Do you have lodging lined up in La Paz? Here is a link to a place I stay, just west of La Paz. I don't have the name of a shop to recommend, but the folks who own and run the camp will!

It is a good place to stop, even if you just have coffee and use their WIFI.

There's a great mechanic shop on Cuauhtemoc, just around the corner, behind the Arramburo on Fojoradores:

Most likely just brake dust, remove the brake pads, clean the calipers, and use ATE brake pad lube (or similar) from Autozone (by Walmart) on the caliper's slide contacts, and the back side of the brake pads.
There is a good tire place in Chemetla on the right hand side ( big yellow sign), when driving from the RV campground towards La Paz.
Good guy, can do that work easily.

Very popular with those visiting La Paz. Can direct you to mechanics and about anything else you need local help for. VERY secure and convenient location.

Thanks everyone for the input. Very helpful! I am hoping it is just brake dust as stated and I suspect that is what it is. Truck also has a camper on it so plenty of weight. 2006 with just 33,000 miles as prior owner did not get to use it much. I am in Todos but will check out La Paz shops soon on dental visit.

Thanks again for the help.

We frequently stop and get coffee, pastries and sandwiches when heading north for fishing or surfing. Great coffee shop.

I agree! The squeaky wheel gets the grease, not oil! :P

Sounds like a great resource. Other than brakes the truck is running great....but you never know! Much appreciated.
