Avatar gone bye bye

Every once in a while my avatar disappears. Now I am having trouble putting it back. Anyone else have this problem or am doing something wrong?

Am I starting to wine too early in the morning?

94.5% chance of operator error on trying to put it back but not my doing on it's disappearance.

Mine used to disappear about every six weeks, but have not lost it in the last three months now.

In this particular situation, it had become oversized (or somehow bypassed the size check) - significantly - and I removed the link to fix the issue, which had made the threads you'd posted in unreadable.
