Asuncion Fishing Report for October...Biggest Wahoo Ever for US!!

shari - 10-30-2016 at 11:33 AM

We are experiencing summer weather this week with air temps in the 80's and water temps are now up in the low 70's which has brought in dorado, wahoo and skipjack but no sight of tuna... yet!

The yellowtail bite is generally good but we had some off days too usually followed by great days. The fish are deep and jigging irons is the ticket. Here are some of the highlights from last week.

Juan just called on the radio excited about the wahoo catch this morning!!!

That is amazing! Wahoo is on my bucket list. If I may, what is the preferred method of preparing/eating???

It was a great day of fishing Even though we didn't get any YT we still managed to fill two coolers (the wahoo took one). Juan is the one who gets the credit. As I told him "I'm just a dumb gringo who bought a fishing rod".

We cut it into steaks to bbq. A 1-1/2" thick steak weighs a couple of pounds and will feed 4. We eat it with a fork.
