Help Juan out por favor with outboard oil

We used to get the Mercury outboard oil sent down on the bus from Ferremar in Loreto but this morning they said Baja Pack will no longer take oil...gee whiz eh!

Soooo....maybe someone coming north can bring 5 liters of Mercury Marine Engine Oil 25W-40 for Juan's outboard???? Or if anyone can find it somewhere else like the states and bring it south...that would be terrific...thanks kids

The Coop does not have it? I am assuming this is for changing 4 stroke motor oil.

I will be in your neighborhood middle of next week and would be happy to bring it along. I'll do some checking tomorrow on where to find it around here. I had planned to motorcycle but decided to drive the Explorer instead so plenty of room. Probably crossing border southbound Monday. Is there a source in Ensenada where I could pick it up?

There is a CMC Marine store in the newer fisherman's harbor just north of Ensenada. Just drive in from Mexico 1 (Right after SAN MIGUEL). You'll see it on the right.
There is also another marine store in the Ensenada harbor. It's kind like a West Marine store. Enter at the frontage road just after you see the LARGE ENSENADA (block letters) sign at the entrance to the town. It is on the right just before the traffic light.

No Ralf the coop doesnt have it or of course we would get it from them....and it is for our sport fishing panga not the coop panga.

That would be fantastic Kurt and as always it will be great to see you and show you our newest room addition....maybe you can help name it. We are leaning towards the Seahorse Den. Here is a link to a good option if you have Prime Amazon....

shari...why doesn't jaun use regular oil...

there's not much difference

in a 4 stroke motor oil doesn't burn so if he's changing it
it wont matter

remember marketing is the ONLY reason people buy "red gas"
don't be fooled

oil is ALOT cheaper at Walmart too

thank you Bob...I will mention it to Juan but he is rather stubborn about the "right" oil...no arguing with him.

JP Motor Sports has it in Chula Vista, easy pick up before crossing.
What about filter and crush washer if Juan is doing a full change?
George I believe is supposed to fly back in the day after thanksgiving

I'm sure any semi-synthetic in the 15-25/40 viscosity would be fine. But Juan wants what Juan wants.

These engines are a bit unusual, as outboards go, with a supercharger that I assumed is lubricated by the engine oil.

Though I must admit, a 25/40 viscosity is usually only in the realm of diesel engines in hot environments. Very unusual for an o/b in a cool environment.

If you look up the blogs and information on engine oils for outboard motors, you will quickly come to the assumption, that the top quality oil is really important. Imagine running your car motor at close to redline on your tach for hours at a time, temperature variations, and all the work you put those engines through, and you quickly agree that the manufacturing standards are important for a reason. Because I am pretty tight, I always used automotive oil until I read some of the info and then changed. The last Yamaha I had went close to 5,000 hrs with the good oil. But, i do buy it at other places than West Marine.

West Marine's price was $9/gallon less than Amazon's price.
