If you look up the blogs and information on engine oils for outboard motors, you will quickly come to the assumption, that the top quality oil is
really important. Imagine running your car motor at close to redline on your tach for hours at a time, temperature variations, and all the work you
put those engines through, and you quickly agree that the manufacturing standards are important for a reason. Because I am pretty tight, I always
used automotive oil until I read some of the info and then changed. The last Yamaha I had went close to 5,000 hrs with the good oil. But, i do buy
it at other places than West Marine.
