civil disobedance in TJ

SlyOnce - 11-22-2016 at 11:28 AM

Just a heads up traffic has been snarled because taxi and bus drivers are protesting the new express bus stops and have been blockading them. Yesterday was a nightmare by Macro Plaza (it was also a MX holiday) and yet in other parts of the city a ghost town (because there were no buses and taxis). This has erupted into violence and arrests.

Once in service, the express bus stops will be great.

Imagine what would happen if Uber gained a presence in TJ.

There might be Uber drivers hanging from overpasses. :o

I used Uber in Rosarito a few times this year and it's great. Fair priced and I don't get the gringo rate that taxis try to jack me for.

I do worry when getting dropped off in a public are that a rouge crazed taxi driver could attack. I'll stick with getting dropped off around the corner in a quiet location

As of yesterday the demonstrations halted and the new express busses were running.

Taxi drivers have been attacking Uber drivers at the border for some time now.

Uber does have a presence in Tijuana. As usual, hostile treatment from taxi companies that control certain areas like border crossings, Central Camionera bus terminal, etc. Though, those unions treat any any "outside" taxi the same way.

The proposed express bus is just one line north-south, I don't know what the fuss is about.
