Boating in the Rio Mulege mouth

Hook - 2-7-2005 at 02:20 PM

I have read a couple recent reports and seen a recent picture and it appears it is nearly impossible to get out into the sea from the Rio Mulege mouth in anything but a tin boat. EVEN AT HIGH TIDE. Is this true?

What about launching from behind El Sombrerito or the Serenidad ramp? Still possible for, say, a 20-22 foot fiberglass boat?

It is done nearly every single day....no problema if you watch the tides. I will launch a 22' boat manana just before dawn and return by noon to beat low water. There is a bar to contend with at low tide and sometimes impassable at exteme lows.

You can launch at either ramp, but at low water times it would be easier on the north side, although the road in is long and bumpy. South ramp is concrete and used more by fishermen and guides. See south ramp in photo.

Just do it....the fishing is that good...

We metered the river around the ramp at 2-3 feet....no problem just raise the motor.
:lol::lol:

We launched our 24ft Wellcraft from the sand...plenty of old guys there to assist if you get in trouble....:lol::lol:

The fish are sooo good cooked that nite...:lol::lol:

thanks you guys and gals

That's good news. It's great to have eyes and ears down there.

Just wish it were my eyes and ears.....:fire:

So, Bob, are they "in" at the Islas Santa Inez yet or are you having to go up north to ISM?
