Is there now a good place to stay and eat, without camping gear, between BoLA and El Arco ?Bajazly - 1-20-2017 at 09:11 AM
Rancho Piedra Blanca. Coming from B of LA it is after the turn at San Franciscito. It's a rancho on the righthand side as you are heading west, can't
miss it. Super nice rooms, food and people.David K - 1-20-2017 at 10:06 AM
Puerto San Francisquito (Beto's) has a cabana ($40) and a house ($100) for rent. The 'resort' at Punta San Francisquito is sadly run down. See my last
trip report. These places are 10 miles east of the L.A. Bay road junction.David K - 1-20-2017 at 10:11 AM

They are right on the El Arco/San Francisquito road, just east of the Guillermo Prieto/ Mission Santa Gertrudis shortcut junction.

Rancho Escondido also has cabins for rent. They are near the El Arco-San Francisquito-El Barril-BoLA Jct. John M stayed there last Jan. he has the
info on them.

I don't know when you are traveling, but be aware the Bola 200 off road race is February 4th and 5thBajazly - 1-20-2017 at 01:25 PM
Any links to a map for that race Willy? David K - 1-20-2017 at 01:36 PM
TW, Rancho Escondido was closed and the sign well faded.TMW - 1-20-2017 at 02:52 PM
DK are you sure we are talking about the same place and not El Progreso. John stayed there in Jan last year and there were signs of people there
(vehicles) when Roy and I went by there in Dec. Everything looked pretty much the same as before. But things change. David K - 1-20-2017 at 05:53 PM

Here it is on Jan. 2, 2017 (locked up, abandoned... on what should be a good vacation time):

I'll second the recommendation for Piedra Blanca. Stayed there last spring, way nicer than camping. 10 miles or so west of the jct where you turn
from BdeLA heading to El Arco. Big ranch right on the road, signed, can't miss it.TMW - 1-21-2017 at 01:22 PM

Rancho Piedra Blanca is at 28-11.700x113-12.250
Puerto San Francisquito (Beto's) is at 28-25.470x112-51.990David K - 1-21-2017 at 02:18 PM
Thanks TW for adding the waypoints for Norm (Rockman).
Norm, do you use Google Earth or any satellite map site to look at Baja places or roads from above? If you move your mouse on the map, the center
cross hairs GPS location is given below the map, so you can get a GPS of anyplace... provided you know where to look, of course!
Your map numbers on rocks are still visible near Gonzaga, by-the-way. I visited Molino de Lacy on my last trip! The grave is still well preserved.

I use Google Earth for almost all my GPS coordinates. I wish I had it when I was working it would have made some of my work much easier than finding a
site location coordinates on a map for FCC filings. A GPS didn't work at some locations due to the RF interference.
