The Google Translation of the Spanish article:

TIJUANA BC FEBRUARY 9, 2017 (AFN) - At least ten tourists of foreign nationality who were transferred in a tourist truck from the Tijuana airport to the international line were affected after the vehicle in which they traveled was attacked with stones .

According to the president of the company "Ticketon", Carlos Diaz, after 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, a group of "paid" subjects, said without specifying who paid them, were the architects of this attack to the Integrity of the passengers who were aboard unit number 013 that resulted in broken glass before the stones that sent an indeterminate number of subjects.

The owner of the company commented that this "luxury" unit which has a capacity for 33 passengers was attacked in the Libertad colony at the height of Soriana, at 16th street, at the height of the black bridge, where the driver was lowered And where the Americans who came from the airport to the United States were attacked and even some of the tourists traveled to distant destinations such as Los Angeles.

"As we strive to bring tourists 'they' boycott the city to drive them away," Diaz said.

The business owner warned that he would call for an urgent meeting with the police to prevent such a criminal act that he called "terrorism."

This is so awful. What a state of affairs.

Can't wait to see how this plays out with the international media, as well as the White House.

This will have major repercussions on tourism in Mexico.

People paid to attack tourist? How did they find this out? Were perps arrested?

This from last Summer:

''TIJUANA, BC July 5, 2016 - This Tuesday afternoon, men with their faces covered with hoods threw rocks at the windshields of a Ticketn tourist transport with was carrying three adults and a child towards the San Ysidro border crossing. Also this week have been reported attacks on Uber drivers.

The attack was in colonia Libertad, lower part, a few meters from the Padre Kino traffic circle, where there are regularly municipal police units patrolling, although this time there were no police in the area.

After a report made to the 066 emergency number, municipal police came to the site, and in spite of the operations carried out, they did not locate the attackers, who fled in an unknown directions. None of the passengers were injured.''

Doesn't look like much going on. Kids throwing rocks? No media coverage. Must be non-news. Don't sweat the small stuff.

various factions of transportation workers periodically express themselves by throwing rocks at each other's vehicles...
It's not a rare occurrence, not apocalyptic news, just a special TJ adventure for a few tourists lucky enough to witness transportation debate/politics in action!

That's what I was thinking. The Taxistas vs. an upstart limo company perhaps. But poorly timed indeed.

Interesting that the "attacks' occurred to the same transportation company in the same general area. Seems that someone has a problem with Ticketon.........

Where does it say that people on board were beaten?

JoeJustJoe - 2-10-2017 at 12:48 PM

It's probably nothing more than just kids throwing rocks.

The fact is we really don't know what happened, because many times Mexican articles leave out important details, and rarely is there a follow up.

The President, of the bus company, said the group of rock throwers were paid to attack the bus. So were there arrests, and at least rock thrower confessed he was paid to throw rocks?

Were American tourists targeted?

Do American white tourists even use the Tijuana airport to travel to other parts of Mexico, and then travel back home to places like LA?

Now I know many Mexican-American tourists fly out of the Tijuana airport to save a few bucks on airline flights compared to flying out of LA or San Diego. However, it's doubtful Mexican-Americans would be targeted, because they look the same as Mexican Nationals, at least they do sitting in a bus.

Too much is still unknown about this incident, to allow full panic to set in yet, and even if it was a deliberate attempt, it could still be isolated incident, or something personal against this bus company.

As noted above, this is a transportation business vs transportation business issue - and is not the first time this sort of thing happened to this company.

The bus company noted is the one - I believe - that took over the Mexicoach service.
