Bahia Tortugas hotels

CJ - 2-19-2017 at 07:34 AM

We're planning on a trip to Malmarino Beach and playing on staying in Bahia Tortugas for a couple nights, any Nomads know of a good hotel in the Pueblo? Or any good places to eat?

There is only one in town. It is a pink two story building.

Thank you for the pictures Udo the Rendon looks doable, secure parking would be nice as we are traveling in RZR's.
I have the names of a few others but was hoping to get some pictures as well and maybe recommendation on where to eat for like three or four couples. I've heard about the hotel Nanci and there's also a hotel and restaurant Veracruz any information on those?......Gracias

With spell check, it is usually required to select a language. Baja Nomad is fortunate to have the bi-lingual David Keer check! :P

Malarrimo is a Spanish word that means BAD TO BE NEAR... from the days of shipwrecks here.

There is a very historic restaurant about 150' from the hotel (directly West).

Udo, what happened to Hotel Nancy? Is it gone?

We ate at a restaurant by the dock and I forget the name. It was okay, but with little traffic, we had to wait for them to go out and collect the food, including the fish the owner's nephew was just bringing in the dock.

There was a decent taco stand in town. There may be more now as this was a few years ago

I did not see it last time there. It may have been converted to apartments.

CJ, which route are you planning to take to Malarrimo Beach? Are you heading to the fishing villages and then jam down the sand or taking the potentially tougher road by the Asuncion turn off. We are thinking about a trip later in the year and are debating the two routes. Thanks

We did the trip out to Malarrimo beach from San Jose de Castro in Jan. of 2015. The only real problem area was a couple of miles from the start. It took us a while to find a way across the ditches caused by heavy rain, probably from the 2014 hunicanes. There were also a couple of rough spots but very doable.

Here is the trip report.

Thanks for the great info. Did you do any driving on the beach itself or could you not get passed the pond area in the arroyo?
