carlosg - 3-3-2017 at 12:08 AM

This US Submarine ran aground in Isla Margarita in Bahia Magdalena on March 12th 1920.

Anyone have information on this wreck? GPS?

Here's an article on it:

There is a submerged wreck just inside the Entrada to Mag Bay at the north end of Isla Margarita. The wreck holds bait and both local fishermen and long range boats from San Diego routinely jig up mackerel from it to fill their bait wells. Don't know if this might be the remains of the Seawolf.

Hi Bill,

I think the sub ran aground on the south end of Isla Margarita somewhere around the beacon light.

That would be at Punta Taska which is a rocky point. I've anchored there a couple of times but don't know of any wrecks nearby. There is a small boca there that provides access to Mag Bay proper up the east side of the island, but not for a 150' submarine. I would take that route in my boat only following a local panga.
If the wreck was relocated in the '90s I imagine that any of the local pangueros at Puerto Chale could take you to it.

You're right Bill, it ran aground further up north from Punta Tosca at what it shows as sand dunes on the Baja Almanac just south of Puerto Cortez, and as its mentioned on the attached video (in Spanish) its a place where locals go to get bait:
