Trip Report (January)

SomebodyElse - 3-6-2017 at 02:10 PM

First, a big thank you to those on here that posted previous trip reports and answered all the questions we newbies throw at you. In general, searching found answers to most of my questions, so I didn't need to ask many. You guys made the planning much easier.

It was especially useful to hear about the local fuel situations as we made our plans. We did delay our entry for a few days, but once we were here all went well.

I have finally gotten around to posting some photos and they are here:

Let me know if I have mislabeled or screwed up any descriptions. Not that I wrote much because I mainly link to avoid repetition of other sites.

Despite the unusually cool weather and icy winds and rain, we had a blast. All the frightening media reports seemed to be just sensationalism - other than the 3 people shot on Sunday morning in Loreto when we were there - just to prove the exception to the rule.

Wonderful!
Santispac (no k) was the only error I saw, but heck, with such a great report, you are allowed two! ;)

If it sounds the same seems many Mexicans don't care what letter is used! There is no k in Spanish words, only foreign words, like kilo.

We have fun with Rancho Santa Ynez, that is the owner's preferential spelling from the 50's to recent years. Now, we see Inez or the correct Inés along with gringo variations like Ynes, Innes, etc.

Another gringo error is the habit to spell Alfonsina's with a ph (Alphonsina's). Like the k, no ph = f sound in Spanish.

It is all fun, as long as we are talking about Baja (Baha???)!

Amazing how many ways Santispac is spelled or misspelled.

Your name is most excellent! Somebody else indeed LOL

Very nice report that really shows the beauty of all the towns you went to.
