Lobster was good and lots of food.

We've been twice in the last couple of years.

Food was good, we thought prices fair, the bar made a good drink or two.

View is nice and the chef came to our table and talked a short while. Overall we"d recommend to stop, have a meal, and see what you think.

We'd stop again.

Do the owners/managers/employees still have Egyptian first names?

15 or so years ago I use to frequent the place as they had the best Cadillac Margarita's.

They said their Mexican father was somehow involved in the Egypt consulate (or something like that) and the parents named them all very traditional Egyptian names.

Chef Johnny was the President of Mexico's personal chef before his position as head chef of a San Francisco establishment.
We have not eaten there in a few years, but only because we have been using Hwy. 5 to travel.

bet thats Rada who now owns Score 33, him and his brother both have Egyptian names. the margies are called the "golden cadillac"....can't say im a huge fan of the place but certainly worthwhile to visit one of the area's old time baja joints.

My roommate lives in Campo Lopez, just south of Halfway House. She mostly goes to Splash, as the HH has fallen off in quality. I guess the owner makes so much money of the properties just south that he does not care much about the restaurant anymore.

I don't live in Campo López, and my roommate doesn't either. But I've known Johnny for a quarter of a century and I seriously doubt that he's the landlord of any properties in that area.

Once upon a time he told me that the owner of Halfway House recruited him from a hotel in Tecate to come run the place. That statement is consistent with the place's history (somnolent until the mid-90s). He also told me that he trained his wife to run the kitchen, which is also consistent with the place's subsequent history (he was always in the front of the house).

I haven't seen him in about five years, though, and have been thinking kind thoughts.
