Thanks. Similar to 2013 except Arrajal is not used.

Do you know the canyon names the course passes thru, at RM230, RM240 and RM260? I think I know, but would like to rely on experts.

You know your history books!

Stuck,
215 to 230 is Hauatamote
240 to 250 is Chanate
250 to 260 is Amarilias
The short section at 250 is called the crossover. Just drove it its is Ok shape.
Arrajal I mentioned goes north from 120

Tacodawgtim - 3-15-2017 at 08:24 PM

Hey Paul is the start finish at the arches. I had heard they were going to start the race on the malecon..
I can't tell from the insert.
Thanks

David K - 3-15-2017 at 08:50 PM

The map insert shows it as the malecon.

PaulW - 3-16-2017 at 07:37 AM

No arches
Diffierent from the SF 150 and an improvement.
Assemble on the malecon. Head South on the malecon then right/left and head south to the sand then cross under Hwy5 at the normal Code tunnel. From there we will need a gps track to get to the dump road just west of the arches. Speed limit until the tunnel.
Expect huge congestion on the malecon. Should be a fun place to spectate.
Hard to tell the return to the malecon? maybe they will us the hwy to the sand dune? Then back the way they came from the start?

Thanks, I knew you'd know.

All the washes near San Felipe are in good shape. We have had very little weather to make things difficult. Result is more dust. Same comment applies to the race track north of Hwy 3.

May not matter, but last week the desert was all wet just inches below the dry surface, in Valle Chico. It had rained plenty just a week earlier in that area. Perhaps that is what exposed more boulders and rocks in Matomí narrows?

Have a fun race!

My friends and are looking to camp and watch the race somewhere between race mile 10-40. Any recommendations for a spot in the course that would be good to see them running fast and not to crowded with locals?

TMW - 3-16-2017 at 12:56 PM

I don't recall the actual KM mark, I think it is around KM169. There is a dark house on the east side near the hwy. There also may not be a hole in the fence at that location but there is a road going west. It meets the race course at RM18 or near there. Great place to watch from. There is a dip in the race course and the vehicles usually take a flying leap. One did a barrel roll when we were there.

PaulW - 3-16-2017 at 02:00 PM

* RM 11 should be the Zoo west of the power line with the huge crowds.
It is where the dump road crosses Zoo. Big jump over Zoo there.
* RM 30 is close to the hwy and will have smaller crowds - Km149
* 2 poles - A couple of miles west to the race track.

Bajavanadu - 3-16-2017 at 08:15 PM

Thanks for the advice
