moving and shipping question

durrelllrobert - 3-21-2017 at 09:10 AM

A friend of mine has moved from Ensenada to OAXACA and had to leave about 1 pickup load of personal items in storage here. Anyone have a good suggestion for someone to move this stuff for him (at a prmium price of course)?

Move it where? I'll disappear it, for a price, of course! 😎

I would go personally the offices at Castores in Sauzal by the ocean and see what they can do. They do "less than truckload" LTL freight and MIGHT handle small shipments of household goods. Thats why I would go and ask. Also -
1. have exact box count - make sure they are decent boxes or crates that can be handled off and on trucks and travel over a few thousand miles of Mexican roads.
2. realistic weight count
3. description of items in a complete list and a box list
4. plan to bring the items to their warehouse in Ensenada, and to have the items shipped to their warehouse at final destination- have the guy make arrangements to pick it up there.
They have an office in Oaxaca, OAX.

I have worked with Castores on commercial moves - another LTL carrier with offices in Sauzal and in Oaxaca is Tres Guerras. They might be an option but I can't say anything about their services.

-- Trick is to try to have an LTL carrier handle household goods - mudanzas. They typically don't like to because shippers don't properly pack their items. Do everything you can to make it easy for them and easy to ship.

if they say they can't handle that, then ask for household good carrier recommendation. It will cost $$$ that route.

Like I said, there is a good chance they will pass on this movement, but its worth the effort to see.
