Favorite Evening Grub Los Barrilles?

DeMinimis - 3-28-2017 at 05:54 PM

You're hungry. You're in Los Barrilles staying at Martin's. You want the best Baja food available within reasonable stumbling distance. Where do you go (other than Pisces, which is great, but went there last night)?

john68 - 3-28-2017 at 06:41 PM

El Viejo for breakfast or lunch. Closed for dinner.

Open mic night at La Fogata on Wednesday night--always fun.

La Playa, El Gecko, La Casita, Green's and Maria's are our favorites.

Pisces beside Chapito's for delicious Mexican food at a great price and the Bayview for full moonrise and special occasions when the budget isn't a concern.

Hey Dave don't forget Tio's

"Hey Dave don't forget Tio's"

It might be the most Gringo-fied spot in Los Barriles but man, I love their Fish &Chips and it is a regular stop for us.

Three Dog Corner!

Good shrimp tacos too.

I remember when we would go to Hotel Rancho Buena Vista for the

sit

down family style dinner. Listening to people asking "what kind of

wonderful fish they were eating?" When told it was marlin they would

laugh and say "no, really what kind of fish is this?"

One of the Ariza brothers tended the palapa bar where fishing stories

were exchanged, and blended tropical concoctions were served up.

Back in his heyday Marlin skipper Manuel Ariza Cota who was an

excellent skipper and all around guy had a great restaurant at the

entrance of town. His wife Cloti did the cooking and she was one fine

cook. EPD All gone now. Need to visit the place soon. I am sure I

would not recognize it now.

I omitted Smokey's intentionally--it's one of our favorite places.

We went there a few nights ago. Not too crowded.

New menu--higher prices, for the 2nd or 3rd time in the last year.

No chips, no salsa (one of the best in town), no draft beer and no fish! Granted, fishing has been slow, but every other restaurant has cabrilla, etc.

Service, usually prompt and courteous, was very, very slow.

Clarence and Chris need to spend more time with the staff before this becomes the norm.

Hate to hear this, I like Smokey's also.

Thanks all. On the road now. Los Barriles may just well be our new favorite place. I think I may need a little piece of dirt there someday.

BajaBlanca - 3-30-2017 at 03:37 PM

but....................where did you eat LOL?

DeMinimis - 3-30-2017 at 07:29 PM

We were going to Tio's or the smokehouse and walked into some street side taco joint. Didn't even catch the name. It was bueno. Now stuck at an Olive Garden in El Centro. No bueno.

Left Bahia Conception at 0:Dark and now in El Centro. Spent.

Oh, Pisces was really good. However, that was after three margs at Martin's, so my review is suspect.

Kassandra's for an early lunch today (Jesus Maria). Not Rossy's but a-okay.

Little place on the left on your way in... Restaurante LB I think? Best fish, octopus and shrimp tacos I've had in town there.

La Pirata? Just before Chapitos? I didn't think they stayed open for dinner. Great fish tacos and good fresh raw sea food from the van across the street-the husband of one of the ladies behind the counter
