Fishermen Threaten Sea Shepherd

gringorio - 3-28-2017 at 10:29 PM

It's the same old story: Fish now pay later under the guise of "don't take our jobs" no matter the environmental impact. Sunshine is a false profit seeking short-term financial gains en lieu of long-term stability. Not to mention his probable connections to China and the totoaba swim bladder trade. Sea Shepherd will not leave.

The fishermen were angered by conservationists' calls for a boycott of Mexican shrimp

If this is true, then the fishermen should be angry, though it sounds like a case of mistaken identity.

Mexican shrimp fishermen are very destructive. Huge destructive bicatch. And, yes, the shrimpers are catching vacquita as bicatch.
If you eat Mexican shrimp, you participate in the problem, and are as much a part of the problem.

I'll put that thought in my guilt bag, along with child labor and global warming. Thank you for your input, goatley...

Be like most people, and blunder on! Be happy in your willfully ignorant participation in destruction of the environment!

And how do you not participate? I take it you do not eat any commercially caught seafood?

I have mixed feelings about the SeaShepherd. Sounds like they need to get their stuff straight before they end up with banners next to their headless bodies.

Hell just froze over, I actually agree with something the goat babbled about.

I was thinking the same thing. Don't discard the message because of the messenger. He's right about this one.

The shrimp will get caught, regardless. Europe and Asia are ready to buy it at a discount so a feel good boycott accomplishes nothing. The answer is less humans to feed. What is the ideal number of humans on earth? Are we 1/2 way there yet?

Anyone in San Felipe hear if the protest will go on as planned today?

I read something will happen at 2 today, but can't find any more information.

Just looked at the two town websites, didn't see anything. The San Felipe 250 race is Saturday with Tech tomorrow. The town will be filled and focussed on that.
