Going south into Puertecitos the dreaded pot holes are back, not as bad from years and years ago but they took me by surprise, had to learn the
Puertecitos Polka allover again, be careful they're are some big ones, saw lots of big rigs north and south on that road, probably aren't helping the
cause.

The "new" paved road from Km. 1 to the Old Mill on Bahía San Quintin is already heavily pot-holed!

Just drove north from BCS a few days ago. There are LARGE potholes about 1/2 way between the BCS/BC state line and Catavina, maybe closer to Catavina.
That stretch is usually the worst for potholes but last week was exceptional. I'm glad I have a pickup truck with fat tires. You could easily break a
smaller vehicle if you hit a big one at high speed.

Potholes reproduce during the wet season. They propagate by sticking to tires that drive thru them. If you avoid potholes, you are helping to
prevent their dissemination. Mexican potholes tend to be larger than the American and Canadian types.

Many of the holes south of Cataviña were patched the past month. Drove from Santa Rosalillita to El Rosario just a few hours ago. The worst was
between Chapala and L.A. Bay jcn. L.A. Bay jcn to Via Jesus Maria has a few, but dodge-able.
*I have quite a story about rescuing a couple marooned at a ranch, without food or meds. It has been 4 months since they saw another vehicle when I
drove up yesterday afternoon.

I was told that there was a tanker explosion that closed Hwy 1 a few days ago... in the San Vicente area.
I saw the heat damaged pavement at Km. 69 between the Ejido Erendira/ Coyote Cals junction and the top of the south Santo Tomás grade. There was no
other debris, so it was cleaned up well.

I drove past the tanker Sunday on Mex 1 heading north.
Traffic was stopped both directions. A worker was shoveling dirt onto the pavement.
I went to check on a fluid on the roadway. It appeared to be diesel or oil.
We waited for about 15 minutes until a big garbage truck decided he had waited enough and drove past the worker shoveling dirt. The worker got upset
and started gesticulating wildly.
It was only a few moments later that I fully realized the gravity of the situation. The car ahead of me was crawling along slowly when it started
skidding uncontrollably on the fluid toward traffic crawling the other direction. My car followed. It was like ice. Luckily, both cars managed to
stop before hitting anything.
A little later, we saw the burned tanker.

Potholes are plentiful and deep north of Ciudad Insurgente toward San Juanico.
