Is it a fact that you are not required to import your vehicle anywhere on the Baja peninsula (like in the rest of Mexico)? When we moved to Lake
Chapala some years back we had to purchase a vehicle importado certificate at the border and then surrender the windshield sticker to customs at the
border when we left Mexico and drove back to the US.
Do you just need a Mexican auto insurance policy to drive legally in Baja?
And do you need to obtain a residente temporal in the US if you plan on year
round residency?

There was a recent post stating that a permit might be required for an RV, but I did not check for a link to an official policy change.

vehicle TIPs were tried and failed. This is because of the copious amounts of 'chocolates' that reside in border towns. There's no way to enforce it
when half of you population is driving an illegally registered vehicle.
Gotta love Mexico. vehicle papers, insurance and oil changes are for ricos y gringos.
