Support. My son split time with the car owner.

Congrats on the win!

Love the photo of 1012.

Yea, The 1012 car was with our team, He is only 25, and this was his first long Baja race! also his Co rider was a 1st timer in the car!
He did well, starting back around 160?? We all had a great time!

StuckSucks - 5-2-2017 at 01:08 PM

We stopped to help Randy Wilson who experienced problems negotiating a turn south of Coco's. I think he finished first in his class.

Personally I don't think they should have allowed them to race between Gonzaga and Chapala. Too much other traffic.

Great stuff SS;)

TMW - 5-15-2017 at 09:17 AM

Good racing all around, congrats on 3rd place.

StuckSucks - 5-15-2017 at 10:16 AM

I just noticed that Stella (on right side with red diamond) is doing its thing, alerting the occupants of the car that they are approaching a problem. No surprises = safer race.

BornFisher - 5-15-2017 at 11:33 AM

WTG!! Congrats!

For us Stella worked great...on the other hand some of the slow drivers did not know what the push to pass signal meant or they did not seem to care.

StuckSucks - 5-15-2017 at 12:59 PM

For John M and others interested in a close-up of Stellllllllaaaaaaaaaa*

*Somebody was going to do that, might as well have been me.

Congradulations

That rally looks like fun.

Is that your son next to the squid whisperer or a paisano?

rts551 - 5-15-2017 at 01:44 PM

Paisano. Squid whisperer..I'll have to remember that.

There were parts they were really fast...other parts they had problems. Article says no mechanical problems...but I saw the engine out of the red one in Bahia de Los Angeles.

rts551 - 5-16-2017 at 05:42 AM

Thanks. It is a cool event. Much better run than the SCORE events IMO. https://www.norra.com/mexican1000.php

HA!

Lower car count.

How many bikes?

Higher entry fee.

I guess it might be easier to run the event.

Get 20- 30 trophy truck drivers together (like score) and see how easy your event runs.

Goes to show jow much some people think they know. We run both Score and Norra. Norra is cheaper. $3500 entrance fee. Over 200 cars and 46 bikes. The organization of the race has nothing to do with how many trophy trucks there are. If anything organizing a 5 day race is harder than a race with no stops. Lastly, before you think any race is easy....try it first.

BajaBreak - 5-20-2017 at 12:45 PM

The spirit of the event was to bring out the vintage vehicles, and to have multiple days of fin getting down the peninsula. Obviously the Trophy Trucks bring a lot of interest, but they kind of screw up the course for the little guys. I was disappointed that they upped the max tire size a couple years ago. I was wondering how that has affected things for others.

Also they have been running the bikes on a different course, but only certain days it seems. I like the idea of keeping the riders safe, but it seems inconvenient for a few reasons. I've been wondering how that has worked out, and the reason for it.
