Is the Cielito Lindo Motel/ Campground in San Quintin still open?

Rossman - 5-2-2017 at 03:47 PM

Yup. Staying there right at this moment as a matter of fact. Great happy hour and good food in the restaurant. The outside is abit worn looking but the rooms are very nice. Clean and comfortable and spacious.

We used to stay there when we first started coming to Baja together 11 years ago.....great margaritas!

I was there 7 days ago. Didn't go in, but they're open. Signage photos in my trip report Day 7, posted this morning in the Trip Reports Forum here.

I've been using Cielto Lindo as my first night stop when driving south and my last stop driving north for decades. I drive a truck camper and just pull into one of 2 or 3 spots right at the end of the road just past the bar.

What's remarkable is the almost no change that has occurred at Cielito Lindo and the dramatic change in the surrounding area due to the Los Pinos organization.

Was there a couple of weeks ago. Went to the bar to pay for the night and the guy let me stay for free.

Also, it's a good place to go if you're on the lam. You never know.

In this ever changing world it sure is sweet to find a place that stays the same !

That's character. ..........

See the sign... note the crab... I think that would say yes.

There's a sign on the highway - correcto? What km would that be?

David K - 5-3-2017 at 01:30 PM

I think there is, the sign above is where the paved road bends left for the Hotel Misión Santa María. The dirt continues ahead for Cielito Lindo. The access road is Km. 11, Los Pinos Pemex and tomato packing plant at the junction. Both hotels are 3 miles from Hwy. 1. It is all in my trip report, posted yesterday.

We used to stop there years ago but the rust colored showers steered us to another place. Great people, food, drinks but I like my (maybe last for a few days) shower to make me feel clean... now we stop at Baja Cactus on the way down.

Turn west at the Los Pinos PEMEX south of San Quintin and stay on the road until it curves to the left and ends. You're there.
