Any updates on San Jose del Cabo? regarding the recent crime

We are headed down in a few weeks and wonder about going to downtown to shop and walk around during the day

Art Walk on Thursday nights? Still goin on? Good and safe to go enjoy?

Go and enjoy. Art walk still happening. We went last week and it was busy and fun. Don't miss Ida Victoria's gallery at the top of the hill to the left.

Cabo probably safe if you stay out of the crossfire. drug war going on in the area. Cartel vs cartel, and govt vs cartels. A few days ago govt and a cartel had a shootout, 8 dead. Yikes!
But tourists seem to be staying out of the crossfire,...

11.44 million international tourists visited Mexico in 2016, and 7.86 million Americans visited Mexico in 2016.

And we still get questions asking if "Mexico is safe, and all it's variations.

Well, almost all of these nearly 20 million foreign tourists make it back home safe, after visiting war-torn Mexico

So what's to worry about? A few lower level drug dealers/junkies shooting each other over selling drugs in each others territories.

Chicago, has a lot of shootings, and killings like certain cities in Mexico, but the thing is almost all those shooting don't happen in the nice parts of Chicago, just like they don't happen in most of the tourist areas of popular tourist destinations in Mexico, with the exception of maybe Acapulco, and maybe a couple of other cities.

I would consult the US State Department's updated travel warnings advisories for more information.

Of course, if you're still scared, there are always wonderful Mexican restaurants most cities in America, you could visit, so that you can still get that Mexican vibe, smell, and taste.

Be careful, sites/forums like "BN" have a few members that will tell you to be very scared if you decide to visit Mexico.

11.44 million international tourists visited Mexico, increasing 9.9% from last year. (January – April 2016)

The number of air travelers increased by 10.3% over same period last year. (January – August 2016)

In terms of international visits to Mexico, the United States has the most visitors, followed by Canada, the United Kingdom, Argentina, Colombia, Spain, Brasil, Germany, and France.

A total 7.86 million Americans visited the country from January to October 2016, an increase of 12% from the same period in 2015

I was in San Jose del Cabo a week ago. I was having so much fun, eating great food, and meeting awesome people, that I forgot about how unsafe the place is.

Are you referring to chuckle and norte? There must be more. Why does Tom believe everything negative he reads about The Baja -- then writes it here?

Why does life for many nomads begin in The Baja? Is there life for these folks outside The Baja?

I don't feel like naming names right now, but lets just say there are a whole host of Mexico haters, who for some reason or another, seem to delight in trashing Mexico, and making it seem like all of Mexico is a war zone.

Of course we also deserve to know what's going on in Mexico, and I have no problems with legitimate news outlets that report the news about Mexico.

At the end of the day, what's going on in Mexico, is like the whether, everybody loves to talk about it, but there is very little that you can do to change the whether or what's happening in Mexico.
