This is yet one of thousands of examples of " it's cheaper to rent "

Truth be told EVERYTHING in life is only rented ......

And now he´s your president. :barf:

measomsan - 7-10-2017 at 07:14 PM

Good Lord, I say I say Good Lord....never been involved in investments like this? my guess. When he put his name on it, that they wanted really badly it was risky. So he had a way out. And used it. After eight years in Baja don't even think I am new. So If ya hate this guy fine. But what happened with that investment you have not a clue..

So if Trump Triggers you so be it.

KaceyJ - 7-10-2017 at 08:26 PM

I heard the contractors couldn't even get close to meeting a timeline and the quality of construction was so sub par and all on top of a faltering economy he pulled

No , that just couldn't be true for Mexico could it?

So go ahead and make it a personal fault of his as to why it's a hole in the ground

Sounds like good business decision to me but WTH do I know?

Jerks

mtgoat666 - 7-10-2017 at 08:42 PM

When you put your name on the development, it is yours, regardless of whether you directly managed the project. You don't want to own the mistake, then don't be the name and face of the project!
Typical trump: Blame others for your own mistakes. He obviously is not very good at picking staff or business partners,... just look at the bozos he hired in the WH, and look at the fact that good people will no longer even interview for all the open positions in his admin.
Sad!

Whats worse the hole in the ground or the environmental disaster that runs 24/365 to the sea right next door? You know, the sewage river....

bezzell - 7-11-2017 at 07:06 AM

maybe the russians just didn't have confidence in this development ?

Osprey - 7-11-2017 at 08:31 AM

Grosfeld took over the defunct Cabo Riviera Marina/Golf Club, etc. 800 acres right here in La Ribera, got all the permits and is aggressively building it out beginning with a LICENSE for the brand Four Seasons of Canada

The first bungalow residences, one unit, single or double floor are for sale for 10 to 15 million DOLLARS EACH.

sub par construction???with the exception of some excavation no building ever took place, except for the beautiful sales office thats still there.

SFandH - 7-11-2017 at 12:51 PM

I think it was the drug war followed by the recession that killed sales. It probably would have been built if they pre-sold enough condos.

STUPID location though. Right next to the city's sewage no-treatment plant's outfall into the ocean.

Trump's damaging business practices are the reason I hate him so much. He has no ethics and is a scumbag as far as I'm concerned. Smaller developers, contractors, and sub-contractors go belly up because he refuses to honor contracts. Disgusting excuse of a man.

Looks like the same company of the failed La Riviera is the new vehicle for the 4 Seasons.

Right---certainly not stupid. But gaining success in one field does not assure success in another field. They did not do their homework, and are paying for it now---millionaire or no.

AKgringo - 7-12-2017 at 01:30 PM

The list of sports figures, movie and music stars, and generations of trust fund millionaires that have been picked clean would indicate that stupid people can be wealthy!......At least for a while.

I am so sorry that your development company was put out of business because you could not compete in the business world. Your relationship with Mr Trump must have been very disappointing for you to have this grudge so long. Perhaps the hundreds of projects that he has done, and the thousands of people he has employed are all wrong. Maybe you should vote democrat. Maybe vote for Bernie (He gives everything for free). Better yet, do your developments where everybody wins, like N Korea or China.

Yes but not until the investors filed a lawsuit for fraud and the developers decided it was wiser to settle out of court instead of fighting the fraud claim.

Similar charges of fraud existed with Tampa and Ft. Lauderdale projects, and Trump University.

I guess it's my time to bow out of BajaNomad. It has morphed beyond recognition, to a childish, hateful facebook page with little reference remaining to Doug's original intent....a site for Baja information.
I've had a good run here.....met a bunch of decent, respectable Baja folks, and learned a lot. Hopefully my submissions have added to other's experiences as well.
Truthfully...I don't know why Doug continues to host this new regime who have very little to add to anyone's Baja experience.

David K...bless his bullet-proof heart has continued to give assistance, in spite of having been sniped at, ambushed, and pretty much disrespected here for more years than I can recall. Someday....he'll see the light and clear himself out of the swamp that Nomad has become. Nothing like it used to be, and I'm done with it all.

I make this statement, that some of you will rant as grand-standing, but that's wrong. I do this to thank Doug Means for his patience here with my past, and to wish him, and his, the best of all future endeavors... You, Doug, deserve all of it.
Say hi to Ryland and Michelle. It's a small world and we'll see each other again.

Now...the rest of you losers can go back to throwing your feces at one another like a bunch of useless monkeys.

TMW - 7-12-2017 at 04:36 PM

Well said Dennis.

David K - 7-12-2017 at 04:54 PM

Thank you Dennis, but please don't let 'them' win.

I get many private messages thanking me for hanging in here. There are so many hundreds who enjoy this site, but they are either not posting or not even registered, pure lurkers. It is for them and the few 'good' Nomads who want this to remain a place to exchange travel details, Baja photos, history, and maybe a little friendship.

The occasional political stuff would not be bad if the other side could allow a little 'equal time' for us to counter their 'wacky' views and ideas (lol)!

Sadly, free exchange of ideas (free speech) is not something they have a concept of. It's got to be their way or the highway, and they will destroy a thread to tarnish any attempt to have another point-of-view posted with name calling and personal attacks.

That being the case, Doug really needs moderating help and all political discussion erased... all.

SFandH - 7-12-2017 at 06:27 PM

Jeez guys, I feel responsible for DENNIS's last post. Prior to my post he made one saying:

"All of the investors were reimbursed to their satisfaction...plus.
Do some homework before ya'll jack yourselves off and into a frenzy."

He then made another post with a link to LA Times article. I read that and another (doing my homework as directed) and simply posted what the second article said, with a link.

No name calling, no personal attacks, no disparaging remarks at all about anything.

Did I cause all this vitriol?

"childish, hateful" - DENNIS
"the rest of you losers .... like a bunch of useless monkeys" DENNIS
"their 'wacky' views and ideas (lol)" DK
"(free speech) is not something they have a concept of" DK

Who is doing the name calling and being insulting? Not me.

Grizzlyfish, the company my husband works for was too smart to deal with Trump - it is just the observations of the construction/development industry that Trump has damaging business practices. Trump hurts more people than he helps - if that was not the case he would not have failed and filed for bankruptcy so many times (and of course turned to the Russians for financing - lol they OWN him!!). He is a disgrace to our country, I am so sorry for you that you see him as anything but the misogynist racist idiotic failure at everything (including marriage) he is.

-----and some wonder why Dennis is disgusted??? This is an example of why! Barry, she just expressed her opinion of Donald Trump. She did not insult any Bajanomad. Nor did she insult people who maintain any particular political stance.

All presidents have their detractors. Clinton, Bush, Obama all got blasted daily by their opposition.

A sign f intelligence is being able to consider alternative views from your own. Being calm and thoughtful, patient, doing your research, understanding your own bias, being aware of trends in mass communication and programming and being kind to others regardless of your point or their point of view.

Here on Baja Nomads there exist a quintessential example of ignorance, groupthink, arrogance, and in general rude behavior.

It has been this way for a very long time.

Many have wondered why?

Could it be that that the average age is quite high, likely average posters age is in their 70's. Seniors are often stuck in their mindset, suffer from deterioration of brain power, and perhaps poor nutrition?

What is the point of hosting a hot bed of ignorant, arrogant, rude, low IQ, insulting, biased, unintelligent idiots? Perhaps there are a few kind souls trying to help, like Dennis?

Goodness, that's some serious stereotyping there! In my 73 years I have not found either ignorance or open mindedness to be age related. There may be, however, some slight increase in general grumpiness but that would not apply to me no matter what my kids say.

woody with a view - 7-13-2017 at 11:56 AM

Dennis is cool. I can say I've met him and roughly 40 others here and all of them are pretty solid humans. If I haven't gotten around to the rest of ya's chances are it ain't gonna happen. Ignorance not withstanding!😝

Mexitron - 7-13-2017 at 12:12 PM

What's happening on Nomads is indicative of what's happening across the US: ideological divisiveness that is not particularly based on rational thinking, IMHO. We are dividing ourselves based on one or another panacea--the other side is completely wrong! Some of our best years were post WWII when both sides almost became indistinct. For example Eisenhower was courted by both parties to be their candidate--imagine that happening today! The moderate majority is silent.

It's ALL Good (mostly) Clean FUN !

MrBillM - 7-13-2017 at 06:37 PM

Isn't it ?

Realistically, there's not a single person here on either side that can have ANY significant effect on the national political scene.

And, it's unlikely that even the most belligerent among the vitriolic Keyboard Kommandos will emerge from the safety of their devices to present a physical danger, SO ............................

Just accept that the only thing such social media is useful for is recreation.

HAVE FUN at no cost.

Admit that irritating those of opposing viewpoints IS Fun.

Doing so "in person" (as I do daily) is the most rewarding, but the Internet is a decent second. Offering convenient and FREE access at any time.

ANY Trump post is (despite ANY disclaimers the poster might make) intended as a Troll for political disharmony.

There should be NO surprise when it is successful in that regard.

I think the election of any Republican president would have goosed the stock market for a while. But eventually, values will take precedence again. It's frothy now, a good time to take some profits to spend or re-invest at the next downturn, which is coming ......sometime.

Buy low, sell high. It's high now.

You notice how the Trump crowd seems to ignore 8 years of Obama's stock market gains, from the near deep depression that Bush put up all in.

Oh but Trump, has a great 8 months including the two months after he was elected in Nov, but wasn't actually President till Jan, 20.

The stock market is many times about the predicted future than just fundamentals of how well a company is going. The stock market is reacting to a republican President, who puts corporations first above the people. Trump, has promised corporate tax cuts of 15% which the stock market really loves.

However, before the tax cuts, Trump, has to do a reverse Robin Hood, and take from the middle class, and the poor. The best way to do is with Heath care, where millions middle class and poor people, will lose their health insurance because of the huge transfer of wealth from the poor to the super rich. The middle class and the poor between the ages of 50 and 64 will be hit hard, and many will die without health insurance.

The American people, aren't that dumb, and see what's going on, and I doubt the GOP is going to be able to repeal Obamacare, and leave almost nothing in it's place.

So it's also unlikely that Bush will also get his corporate tax cuts. When the stock market, or people who run the large pension funds, figure out that they have been duped too, the stock market, is sure to crash. On top of this the Fed has been moving to raise interest rates, and is hinting at another interest raise hike in the near future.

The probability that the stock market will take a nose dive within the end of the year, is a good bet, however it could take longer. So I'm not going to panic yet, but I'm watching my retirement and stock holdings very closely while also enjoying the ride of the stock market gains.
