If you want to read the article you must type in f u k on the *** in the htt/line, otherwise it doesn't come up thanks to the protective editing this site has for our delicate eyes.

Oh and yes, thanks Japan.... nuclear issues of 'clean energy' will never be resolved. It has to be banned and terminated. This disaster proves beyond a shadow of a doubt it only takes one catastrophic failure of one energy source to compromise the planet. This is only the tip of the iceberg of thousands of years of problems from the Daiichi reactor, not to mention Chernobyl... and of course our own lady-in-waiting, the Hanford site. Not if, but when. Man's stupidity to his environment; just use up what you have and what you know before investigating what could and will happen.... but then again, i'm sure some here will say we don't do anything BAD to our world, right???

Jeezus what a lame site!

chippy - 7-15-2017 at 04:24 PM

If anyone is interested in Japans dumping of huge amounts of nuclear waste into the pacific(right now) which will end up in baja PLEASE check it out.

Thanks, BG..... but different article with different slant to things.... the usual 'alternative facts' put out by professional spin doctors on BOTH sides of the coin. All to be seen in the production of future facts, including the 'flat-earth' thinkers and the 'no nukes' crowd, que no?

chippy - 7-15-2017 at 04:50 PM

Really though is there a good slant?

woody with a view - 7-15-2017 at 05:43 PM

The best slant is dropping into an overhead A-frame!

chippy - 7-15-2017 at 05:50 PM

Yea well woody you are right:light: It helps that I live in colima:light::light::cool::bounce:

MMc - 7-15-2017 at 06:25 PM

I am with Woody and it's been good all week.
What I do not understand is how all this Daiichi reactor spilling is good for the world. If it was so harmless why did we ever try to contain it?
This is a major cluster "F" in so many ways including the spin coming from Japan.

For a romantic candle light dinner, sushi that glows in the dark would be kind of cool!

For Those who CARE ....................

MrBillM - 7-15-2017 at 09:38 PM

What's YOUR plan ?

Besides Caring ?

And Complaining ?

Realistically, someone who doesn't read, hear or know a single thing about the F.uku Fiasco is going to have as much influence as the caring cadre.

Was a replica of a So. Pacific sailing vessel, that recently
completed a around the world voyage. Their mantra is
'Malama Honua' meaning 'care for the earth', sounds
good to me

Eventually electro magnetic rail guns will be hurtling the Earth's nuclear waste into the Sun where that energy source first came from. Standby until then it seems.

BTW, Somehow the French do a fine job with Nuclear. Where do they put their waste or is it all reprocessed?

BTW, the Japanese played SDGE and we got sold the SONG turbines that led to their demise. SDGE now wants to entomb the waste onsite at San Onofre, can anyone say rising sea levels:?:

My plan is to keep watching this continuing disaster. This past February they measured the highest radiation fields ever at Unit 2, that's six years after the accident. Three reactor cores melted into molten masses known as corium. They don't know where any of the cores are although it is assumed they are still in the reactor vessels; however, one theory is reactor 2's core has breached its containment vessel, hence the new, highest ever radiation measurements.

Oh, one more thing, I'm not going to eat any pickled seaweed from Japan. ;)

I worked at San Onofre Nuke Station for parts of 25 yrs.,
nothing terribly technical, SDGE, was a minority holder
at S Onofre like 20%, So Cal Edison was the operator,
with 80%, it was not turbines that were bought from
Mitsubishi, it was 2 replacement steam generators,
costing 750 mil, which started showing premature wear from
the get go. SCE went with the cheapest bid to build them, Mitsubishi

If you play with fire long enough.......................I'm with the A frame thought and if they glow in the dark we can surf at night. So enough with these negative waves. thmk positive. Who said that?

Once Said in the '60s ..................

And Beyond:

"More people have died in Ted Kennedy's car than in (U.S.) Nuclear Power accidents".

I'm not sure whether the number is still zero, but it must be close.

Donald Trump represents a greater danger to the U.S. than Nuclear Power.

Don't Worry - Be Happy.

Did you help install the 420-ton nuclear reactor BACKWARDS in SONGS containment #3:light::lol:

No, but I remember that. The 2 SO units were mirror images,
back to back, it is said those wouldn't be built in that
configuration again. It is my understanding the backward install
did not effect the operation. I'm not a proponent of nuke power,
quite the opposite, just a decent paying job. The idea of
clean, cheap nuke power, I don't think ever lived up to it's
billing. I've been told during an outage, SCE could purchase
replacement power cheaper than they could produce at SONGS.
Not sure it has been demonstrated nuke power is needed.
I honestly do appreciate the sarcasim though, I use it often

Cliffy - 7-17-2017 at 06:49 PM

So how much coal and natural gas do we have right here at home?
Who's leading the hit parade on cheap generating? NG you say?

Gonzo - 8-7-2017 at 12:51 PM

Chippy don't surf:bounce::lol:

Cliffy - 8-7-2017 at 01:15 PM

The coal plant next to me is closing in 2 years as they can't produce a megawatt as cheap as NG can do it. There is talk of laying a NG pipe all the way out here to keep it open. I'll believe it when I see it.
We have centuries of coal and NG available right here inside the borders of the USA.

AKgringo - 8-7-2017 at 01:36 PM

For what it is worth, Alaska has massive coal reserves that are not even being mined!

The Usibelli coal mine at Healy Alaska provides coal for power plants here, but the bulk of their product is shipped to Asia.

SFandH - 8-7-2017 at 02:03 PM

Stuff that flows through a pipeline must be cheaper to transport.

Coal in Alaska doesn't do much good in the lower 48 when there are other options.

Besides, coal is too polluting.
