you mean 2 gigabytes

you get 15 gigabytes free with a google account

BajaBlanca - 7-17-2017 at 03:39 PM

are we not talking PHOTOGRAPHS and posting them?

SFandH - 7-17-2017 at 03:51 PM

I think so. But acadist mentioned the amount of disk space photobucket allows with free accounts.

Here is photobuckets pricing. Only the "plus 500" account allows 3rd party hosting.

http://photobucket.com/pricing

acadist - 7-17-2017 at 03:54 PM

I am only reporting on what the opening screen read when I opened Photobucket, maybe since you are already over their 'limit' you are not eligible for the free amount. Just a guess on my part.

Goodbye photo bucket.

shari - 7-18-2017 at 07:36 AM

it seems they are eliminating the photos of people one by one....when this thread started I too said I had no problem with mine and then a few days late....ooopsie doodle...all my photobucket photos on this and my website are history...maddening!

THAT would make SENSE

MrBillM - 7-18-2017 at 08:06 AM

Offer users an opportunity to accept the new business model and (after a reasonable period) drop the hammer.

IF the vast majority of "free" users are like me and simply use the service for the 3rd party hosting while NEVER reading or responding to their ads ........................... where's the profit ?

If they wipe out whatever I've got there, no BFD. It happened previously (years ago) with imagecave.com.

My photos are ALL in files on the computers and (many) on walgreens.com.

Google is great for storage but does not post up easily since they do not store the photos as JPEG or GIF images which most sites need to post images.

Exactly, I'm thinking they intentionally make it impossible to use their servers to host photos displayed on other websites.

SFandH - 7-18-2017 at 11:45 AM

It doesn't. In fact, it's an expense. It increases the load on their servers.

BajaBlanca - 7-19-2017 at 03:56 PM

It was great while it lasted and I see that all past posts have my photos removed.

It required so much effort to put my reports together. I hate photobucket right now.

chuckie - 7-19-2017 at 04:33 PM

Good Lord! Is this still going on?

David K - 7-22-2017 at 09:43 AM

Marc, if you click on "Share" on your image page, then click on the "Hotlink for forums", you can post the photo... like this:

Marc removed his link, but for those who want to post photos, this one seems to be a winner:

https://postimages.org/

Hi Marc,

How did it go trying to upload your AVATAR from https://postimages.org/ onto BajaNomad... just today I got the pesky photocaca notification to upgrade even though I have any but a very few pics uploaded to them, most of my pics are uploaded directly to BajaNomad server... any way, I deleted my avatar's link to the caca server and followed David's instruction to upload from "postimages" hosting server:

1- Created a "postimages" account
2- Uploaded image (200x200 for Avatar)
3- Clicked on SHARE
4- Copied link from: "Hotlink for forums"

5- Then on the BajaNomad under the "Edit Profile" tab, after pasting "Hotlink for forums" onto the "Avatar URL" window I can see: "Invalid: Invalid Image" after clicking "Edit Profile"

Unfortunately I have NOT been able to upload my Avatar after many tries... CAN ANYONE HELP...???... meanwhile...

Hey Carl
Same problem. Tried all yesterday morning & gave up.

SFandH - 7-23-2017 at 10:42 AM

avatar to the left is hosted at postimages.org.

1. select the photo from your hard disk you want to use.
2. upload using the avatar size selection
3. copy and paste URL into your profile. Use the second link named "Direct Link".

Here's the trick;

This message board requires that the URL you use ends in an image extension, .jpg, .gif, or maybe .png. The "Direct Link" does that.

Also, the "Direct Link" starts with "https". You need to edit out the "s".

again, the URL starts with http:// and ends with a valid image extension.

This must be why you can't host from Google Photos to here. Because nomads doesn't support secure http. For sure you can use Google Photos to host to other sites. I just did it on another forum.

Thank you kindly SFandH
Looks like I have a new avatar.....:D

rts551 - 7-23-2017 at 01:58 PM

I have tried to suggest for quiet a while that the site move into the 20th century... but change is hard.

SFandH - 7-23-2017 at 03:40 PM

Do you see the https babes photos in your post? I sure don't and I know what you're talking about, I looked at the code.

How strange. Yes, I see the photos. When you look at the source code, do you see the html img tags as in attached capture? If you do, something on YOUR end is filtering out the images...

yup, I see them, lines 938 thru 943 in my source code viewer. I'm running an up-to-date chrome browser on a plain jane samsung chromebook and of course https works for me from address bar.

Looks like simple HTML, it's there, but my browser is not displaying the images for some reason.

You're right lencho, it is something on my end. When I run chrome in the "incognito mode" the babes photos show up.

hubba hubba

My guess would be some sort of ad blocker extension to your browser...

Great guess! I disabled adblocker for this site and now the photos work.

Sooo... I think we have determined that this site does NOT have a consistent grudge against https:// based images.

JZ, do you still think that's the case?

Not so fast......

Try to use https for an avatar. The forum software itself will tell you it's an invalid image after you enter the URL and it won't work. That's what led me astray with the [ img ] images.
