August has been an interesting month as big yellowtail, a few dorado and yellowfin tuna have been caught. As no big storms have come north, our water
temps are below normal for this time of year which is great for the fishing coops for the abalone & lobster fishery need cooler water and the kelp
has started to come back after a 2 year absence.
We have been catching unusually big yellowtail for this time of year...up to nearly 40 lbs!!! they are usually still pretty small in August so this
was a pleasant surprise. But it has been fickle and schools are moving alot so not a guaranteed catch yet. Here is our guest Scott Underhill with
yesterday's Fish of the Day...and he lost a huge one and got another nice 20 pounder too fishing with Capt. Juan Arce Marron.
There has been some red tide south of town and down to La Bocana too which has affected the fishing I hear. It did come close to the town beach for a
few days and people were told not to go in the water. Glad it cleared up for some boogie boarding with my grandson! The water temp was close to 70
anyway so not too freezing for fun!
Lidia will hopefully push warm water our way to kick our fishing season into gear!

Thanks for the update Shari. Keep them coming in as the season is about to start down there. YFT are stacked up in San Quintin, but have not moved
north thru the cold water bubble.
I hope your red tide is small and not damaging.
saludos
