Hi, just wondering if any of You have the ph. or email of the little hotel in Cataviña across the street of Hotel Mision Cataviña (La Pinta).

not exactly across the hwy1, its little north of the old la Pinta.

I think you mean the pink hotel called "cabanas linda."

Dont know the number. Not sure i would want to know the number...

It would be a BIG surprise if Cabañas Linda had a phone! Catavña is off the grid. Satellite phone only. Some here (from past reports) would suggest you use a sleeping bag and not expect clean sheets, as well. Water is precious in the desert!

They were closed up when I was checking the area a couple months ago. I think Oscar and Matilda run it when they aren't at Rancho Santa Ynez... perhaps around sundown when motorists may begin to show up?

Yes thats the one!, I called to old La Pinta and They will ask the Lady who Owns/runs the ph., YES I NOW ITS VERY BASIC ROOMS!

Cabañas Linda is at the north end of Cataviña, Km. 179.
The hotel, Misión de Cataviña, is at Km. 179.5.
Rancho Santa Ynez, with bunk rooms and camping, is at Km. 180.5+ and a kilometer off on a once paved driveway.

Been there, done that a while back. Drug our little trailer out on the flats by a tree and slept for the night. Guy came by in the AM after we were moving around to collect. Very low key but friendly. No issues with parking there in a moho or TT. Would do it again.
No one around when we got there.
I bought gas there for an airplane 30 years ago.

Thanks David, I'm looking for the Baja 1000 Race, and Hotel Mision is Fully booked!, for Nov/15th, so I`m looking for something else, for the Helicopter Pilots/mechanics, maybe We will ended bringing a Bus RV. :?:

Last time driving north I pulled into Santa Inez for the night in my camper but got spooked and left. I was the only one there and felt like a sitting duck. Too many thieves in Mexico. Drove to Cielto Lindo just before San Quintin for the night.

At the Motel and Restaurant Sinahi, in El Rosario (Km. 58.5+), is an RV park for a few rigs. Drive in and go uphill passing the motel rooms. The restaurant Sinahi is on the side of the driveway into the motel and RV park.

Bob H posted a funny dog owners sign from there, back a few years.

Stayed a the Sinahi also on that trip Ate in the restaurant also. Food was fine. There were a few other rigs in there also that night.

I would expect a lot of those reservations to be canceled since the race was moved to the sea of cortez side.

If it follows or uses Hwy. 5, then Cataviña is bypassed on the other side of the mountain... It is on Hwy. 1 with no direct connection. Of course, for the helicopter, it is only 20-25 miles away from Gonzaga Bay!

Thanks , but We have rooms at San Quintin, El Rosario, Alfonsinas, San Ignacio, Loreto just for the pilots of 3 helicopters+Crew & at the end La Paz rooms for the Whole Team!.

Bikes will start at MIDNIGHT!, it will be a very long night for Riders! :light:

Lucky team!
Have a great race... 50th anniversary of the 1000, 1967-2017.

Called the Mexican 1000 1967-1972, run by NORRA.

1973: NORRA was replaced by Mexico's Baja Sports Committee and the race was renamed Baja 1000.

1974: No 1000, the only year without one. Following the failed BSC, SCORE was asked to run races in Baja after their very successful 'Baja Internacional' 400 mile race in July, 1974. Mickey Thompson said there wasn't enough time to organize a 1000 that year.

1975... today, SCORE. The first run to La Paz for SCORE was 1979. The race has alternated being loop runs in the north with peninsula runs.

I have stayed at La Pinta. The hotel across the street is worth the extra money to me.
