travel expense aside how much cash would a person need to eat and sleep in and near guerro negro? cheapest places possible? ive been searching this site over. its really comprehensive i was justy wondering what yous guys might think one could scrape by with?:spingrin:

One person, not starving, staying in satisfactory digs = 75us/day. You can spend more (not a huge amount more) and you can spend less (possibly much less).

we plan on camping and eating no frills just some liberal cerveza consumption. and local flavor. this site is awsome! i appreciate your time and considerations any possible cheap scenarios for visit would be much help!:bounce:

You can camp out anywhere in the nearby boonies for free. Eat at the non-gringo places and your expences should be $30 a day, including beer and the little enterainment you can find in GN.:lol:

Camp at Laguna Manuela and go up on the cliff with binoculars and watch the whales swim by. It's almost free! :biggrin:

the vehicle will most likely be the converse express due to high rental prices weve opted for the bus to guerrero negro....itll also let us catch up on some sleep:bounce:
we are interested in anything except a bunch of drunken horny college kids running around like little squacking demon chickens.so i would be really receptive in any kind of special advice any of you could bestow upon us. weve never been we dont know what were doing ive almost totally used this site only for info. i was thinkin if we gotr bored in guerrero negro we could alwaysfind a ride somewhere else on the penn.:tumble:

well be down in baja from about the sixth of march till the 11th or so! depends on how quick we go broke:P wede also like to see the ancient glyphs......those are in guerrero negro also,right?:?:

The main tourist "glyphs" usually refered to as cave painting, are near San Ignacio. The government requires a local guide take you there to protect the painting. This is a nice quite town, lots of palm trees, not many gringos.

Guerrero Negro is a full service, business hub for a rather barren area. Commericial whale tours are available out of both towns.

If you want to kick back on the coast, Bahia de los Angeles is a small town that I would recommend. See the post http://forums.bajanomad.com/viewthread.php?tid=8739

Perhaps a word of warning here from me. The bus service on the mainland (Mexico?s Tulume) area offers service with first class or second class. Regardless of class ticket, the bus may not be your vision of a ?Greyhound?. Many times I have ridden a bus, with overcrowding, packages in the aisles, many stops?. and even held a villager?s baby for three hours as we road to the temples. Air-conditioning that really works on board is a rarity, if any at all. But I love it! It?s a great way to ?feel? the people of Mexico (too). Sighting seeing is good on a bus, but you are not going to be able to really get out and explore sights of interest on your road trip. Let the others here express their experiences on using the bus on the Baja peninsula, perhaps it?s a Greyhound there. Oh, the squacking demon chickens; they find the campsites too. I will be your body guard and try my best to keep them off of you!

The ABC bus service in northern Baja Calif. has a couple of different services. the busses have movies playing, and restrooms. The Plus busses are newer busses with larger seats and just a bit more comfortable. My wife has taken them to Mexicali and Tijuana from San Felipe on sevral occasions. She considers the Plus busses more comfortable than Greyhound. The drivers are more attuned to passengers needs and of course will stop if you want off somewhere besides the depot. She highly recomends them.
