Where is a good place here in San Diego county to buy a few cots and what is a durable, comfortable brand? Also need a new air matress for my
truck..8' bed. Anyone know where to get another one....again, I want durable equipment that will last for years.
quality stuff

If quality equipment is what you want then try sportmart, sport chalet or REI. They should have or can steer to a store that has what you are after.
If you have the time cabela's has a fantastic selection of gear. Just go on line and order it up, it will be to you in less than a week. fishin rich

Self-Inflating Mattress by Therm-a-Rest . We have these, dumped the old air mattresses and cots we had in the dumpster! Don?t be misguided by their
thinness! 'Lay the sucker out, and it self-inflates! Light weight, very flexible. On the Web for bout $50 for a good one, or KIA. We are primitive
campers ( that is camping style, not human type!).

Cots and Thermarests can co-exist

I love Thermarests too, but in Mexico, it can get too hot to sleep in a tent at night. A cot gets you up away from the bugs w/o being in a tent. Plus,
a cot gives you ventilation all around.
Try a T-rest on a cot for a comfy compromise.
Agree with FishinRich about those good sources. Also look at Cabela's online, as they have many specialized cots for outdoorsman; also many add-ons.
One high quality mfgr. is Slumberjack. Pretty pricey for a nice long, wide one. About three years ago Costco was carrying what was an near duplicate
of a Slumberjack for about 1/3 the cost. We bought two even though we had two (a Handybed and a cheapo nylon/aluminum one). We use the Costco
knockoffs exclusively now. I'd advise against a nylon one.....they just dont stand up to use as well as the tight canvass ones.
Maybe they will return to Costco soon? They are starting to stock their summer stuff.
Mexican Cots

are the least expensive, comfortable and cool to sleep on in the warm weather.
They are available at many hardware stores down here and we will soon be having them available made out of bamboo.
I would buy one of those

Will they have the traditional mexican blanket material as the support?
A frame of bamboo would look really great!

Thanks for the feedback everyone. We have been using a friends cots and want to get our own. I agree that sleeping on a cot is the way to go when its
warm under the stars. Lately though it's been a lot more comfortable keeping warm in the Callen Camper. I like those big Slumberjack cots..... looks
like they actually make something for people over 6'

they use burlap material because it breathes so well. But, anything can be used with a bamboo frame.
