Is there an ATM in the immigration office at the San Ysidro crossing? Need to get Pesos.

AKgringo - 10-13-2017 at 01:59 PM

I can't help you with the San Ysidro question, but for convenience, I get pesos at a local Wells Fargo here in northern CA before I head for the border. It is one less hoop to jump through when I get there, and worth what ever exchange rate they charge.

You might want to call around to your local banks and see who keeps a stash on hand.

Yes, at least last time I was there 6 months ago. One by the bank office where you pay for your permit and another by the bank on the other side of that walkway. One is a Bancomer, don't recall the other.

all i'll saw Saturday was a SNACK machine across from the bank

I could be wrong

its a BIG mistake NOT to bring cash...some in pesos

We stop at the mini mart at the Pemex on the toll road right after Rosarito. They have three atm inside. choose your bank. Easy peasy. :dudette:

and a pretty damn good donut....and a 24 to wash it down ;)

There is an ATM after the third and last toll booth when headed south past the border.

I bet you can go to the Costco and get pesos.

There are some casa de cambios right near the border - exchange houses.

The donuts are a nice side benefit. The multiple choice ATM means at least one will be working. :saint:

The bad thing about multiple choice ATMs in some places is that all charge a different rate for the transaction. And all three give you a different Dollars to Pesos exchange rate. That rate can vary by up to 1-1/2 Pesos per dollar.

I have found that the most favorable exchange rate is with a BANAMEX atm.

Get pesos at cambio on USA side of the border. There are many in san Ysidro.

I like Baja-Mex at corner of san Ysidro bl and border village rd.

Always carry cash.. don’t trust your atm card to work, don’t rely on atm having any cash to dispense.
