Winterized...In the Baja?

AKgringo - 12-7-2017 at 04:12 PM

Does that mean that it already has a Gringo or Canadian in it?

Seriously, is this set up somewhere in Baja, or sitting on a lot somewhere?

Hey, hoser...aren't Canadians gringos ? ;D

Paco Facullo - 12-7-2017 at 09:23 PM

Garsh, and I always thought the cheap tacos, ice cold beer and women

were the best deals in Baja ?

ehall - 12-8-2017 at 06:27 AM

The baja makes sense if it's short for the baja peninsula but otherwise not so much. Where is the trailer located?

Ricardo - 12-8-2017 at 08:28 AM

David this was all hashed out before, The Baja is correct. Sorry for your memory issues. The Yucatan is also correct. Any peninsula can and mostly will use a "The" at the beginning. It is totally acceptable and correct.

Ricardo - 12-8-2017 at 08:46 AM

Do use the before the names of
points on the globe (the Equator, the North Pole)
mountain ranges (the Smoky Mountains, the Andes)
island chains (the Florida Keys, the Pacific Islands)
geographical areas (the East, the Midwest)
rivers, seas, and oceans (the Mississippi River, the Atlantic Ocean, the Nile River)
deserts and peninsulas (The Sahara, The Baja )
groups of lakes

So as a student of linguistics way back in the day.....any term used over and over enough times, becomes the accepted vernacular.

Ergo, we have Baja and The Baja!

If you live in Florida (as I did), the Florida Keys Islands are simply referred to as The Keys. I am thinking this had a similar process as The Baja does.

55steve - 12-8-2017 at 12:44 PM

I live in the San Diego...about 17 miles from the boarder (border).

Shouldn't that be 'The San Diego' with a capital T?

I am surprised that this first and only newbie post got legs like it did! All I wanted was to find out if it was in Baja, without sending my e-mail address to an unknown entity.

This SO hillarious Gary that I won't be able to winterize anything up north without first checking for a gringo or a GED!

JoeJustJoe - 12-8-2017 at 04:03 PM

Here is the photo that goes with that ad, however in the other ad, both the truck and 5th Wheel, were offered for $55,000 dollars.

And the viewing of offered in La Paz.

The seller appears to be Canadian.

Hallo, Moto !! :bounce:

Thanks Joe Just Joe!

AKgringo - 12-8-2017 at 05:51 PM

I appreciate you digging up the photo. Like you, I am reluctant to respond to first time posts.

I was wondering if the rig was set up in a semi permanent space, but it doesn't really matter since that is a more luxurious set up than I need. It is certainly more than I am prepared to drag around Baja!

"The rash" between my legs .....................

Hook - 12-9-2017 at 07:31 AM

Winterized usually means that it has more insulation in the outer walls, insulated covers for the roof fans, and a winterizing valve that allows you to bypass the water heater when you introduce antifreeze to the water lines. It can also mean that some windows are dual pane.

Irrespective of the benefits in cold weather, winterizing will also keep a unit cooler in warm temps. It's a good thing to have, if you can accept the weight increase.

Guess I was born in The San Francisco??????
Seems like it is only Canuckelheads that use ""the"" in front of Baja..........

Nope--you was born in Da City!!!

pauldavidmena - 12-9-2017 at 01:26 PM

When I was growing up on Long Island (NY), we all called it "The Island", which was a suburb of NYC ("The City"). Now I live in "The Metro West" of Boston, but also have a vacation home on "The Cape".

All of which is to say that I typically use "Baja" and not "the Baja". Go figure!

woody with a view - 12-9-2017 at 03:08 PM

Baja is a state name. When you cross going north are you suddenly in The California or The Arizona?

And how does one appear Canadian from an ad online?

chuckie - 12-9-2017 at 04:29 PM

Skimpy on the ink..

Ricardo - 12-9-2017 at 08:10 PM

It appears a number of people here don't even know what a definite article is . The one I refer to is the word "The"
https://www.grammarly.com/blog/geographical-use-the/

and the geographical area is a Peninsula

Ricardo - 12-9-2017 at 09:00 PM

Might as throw this one in as well
