Building my own little wall

Mudder - 12-26-2017 at 09:29 PM

I'm looking for an idea of how much I would be looking up to build a wall (USD/sq ft), around a 1/4 acre lot, in the Todos Santos area. I've attempted to attach a picture of a type of wall we are hoping for.

Talk to people who have walls and ask for recommendations. Price out materials and labor, so you know what rough costs will be, then when all of your ducks are marching in the right direction, get estimates from several contractors/masons

Buy materials and have them delivered once you find a crew.

Yes, the Mexican's rule of thumb, is to dig until they get to hard ground, and that may only be 18-24"

Thank you for all great ideas. I guess what I was looking fo was a rough dollar figure (per foot) from anyone who has recently build a wall.
Udo - thanks for that tip on the footings. Any thoughts on how wide a footing base?

3 years ago in La Paz - 8 ft hight (no fancy bricks), 2 ft in the ground, solid foundation (hurricanes!)
about $100 per running meter

I guess you could use your own broken beer bottles for the wall top :-)

That's what they use in Namibia in all the better neighborhoods. That and razor wire. Been there, seen it.
