Curious if the well traveled make use of insurance you can purchase like we can find in US/CAN for mechanical breakdowns while in Baja. Are the green
angels something you'd see often on the road? Or are they the only option?

No AAA, just the G. Angels and others on the road. Angel's funding reduced a few years back, not as common a site as before.
Most folks are helpful and will stop and give a hand.

There are tow trucks in many towns along Mex 1 if you need serious help. The hard part is you won't have any cell service between towns if you want
to call one. And without roadside assistance you'll be on the hook for cash payment.

in the past, the emergency assistance phone number was 060 ( or similar ) but didn't they change it to 911 now all over mexico ?
if you are in phone service area, if you call and need english assistance, they'll get an english speaker in about ten minutes or so.
happened to me just south of ciudad constitution and within 20 minutes, a federal police car showed up, turned around and turned on his red lights to
warn traffic for me.
as i was pulling a small utility trailer, i didn't want to try and change my own tire as the road was just an elevated two lane hiway and no shoulder.
i hope you won't need to use them, just make sure to have your vehicle serviced and make sure to have them check all the belts and hoses as well as
all your tires, including the spare.
it's also probably wise to get phone service for mexico from your carrier.

Belts, hoses, tires are just the start. Pay your stateside mechanic for extra time to test everything.. and have them fix anything thats suspect to
fail in the next 5k miles.
I do this with my 22 yr old Toyota 4x(26o k) before every trip to Baja.I make myself afford this insurance.
