Photobucket hostage fix

Jaybo - 1-3-2018 at 11:51 AM

There are currently some browser add-ons available for Firefox and Chrome to let you once again see those images.

Firefox:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/photobucket-e...

Chrome :
https://chrome.google.com/webstore/search/photobucket%20fix

(There are no guarantees these will continue to work as Photobucket could make changes at anytime to cause them to break. Also note if the member who posted in the thread your viewing has since deleted his or her account with Photobucket, there is no way to get the images back.)

Oh my God, it works!
I use Chrome and a quick download of that second link took a second and when I went back to Roger's post on Concepcion Bay, all his photos were back!!!
Thank you Jaybo, what a great gift for Nomads!

Yes, it saved another forum I frequent, and now those photos can be saved and put on another server. This is really helpful for those posts from those that have either moved on or passed on so the information can be saved for posterity. This post should get pinned too :)

Thanks Jaybo!

:o:o:o:o I haven't tried it yet but I was sure I had lost all those photos! yowza and thanks

David K - 2-25-2018 at 09:40 AM

Hi Blanca, you never lost the photos you host on Photobucket... Photobucket just decided to not let free users share the photos on forums (3rd Party Hosting). TW discovered that at the lowest payment level the photos once again were viewable here. I also upped my position so my photos and maps would remain visible. It was between $40 and $50 for a year's hosting and added storage.

Because of the Photobucket drama, I did find another site that offers free hosting and photo sizing ability to fit the Nomad width limit of 800 pixels, www.postimg.org However, I did not find a photoshop feature there like what Photobucket has.

Anyway, with the fix that Jaybo found, now anyone (using Chrome or Firefox) can see the Nomad's Photobucket images even if they do not pay to upgrade their Photobucket account. Just seeing Pompano's photos again was great.

Hola, DK!
I installed both link fixes in my browser CHROME, So now I have the three icons on my browser bar. I am trying to get my avatar to come up again under my Nomad name. But no luck so far.

Do I just click on the browser link, or do I have to do something within the Photobucket site?

David K - 2-25-2018 at 03:51 PM

Gee Udo, I don't know. I suggest emailing Doug or u2u.

Udo - 2-25-2018 at 04:01 PM

Let me ask you. I just downloaded the avatar I wanted with the appropriate size of formatting (100X50). It is in an album now. Do I use the IMG link to copy it to my profile?

I'll have to send Doug a U2U. I am trying to copy to IMG from photobucket to my Nomad avatar, but when I click on the edit, It disappears!

give up
give up

find a new sight and report back.

If 1% of users give him a $100 he can retire, your money is gone, another scientology scam, why else would dk tell lies for the guy?

David K - 4-28-2018 at 05:51 PM

Hey Joe, I came to use Photobucket AFTER other Nomads, including Shari, recommended it. I am only sharing what has worked for me, TW, and other Nomads.
I don't like what Photobucket has done to the site anymore than anybody else. Try Postimg.org, it is free and has an easy sizing feature for Nomad limit of 800 pixels wide.

great fix for Google Chrome
thank you!

but it is like the rest of the Windows world - always new drivers to download or fixes to be installed.
Never had to do that in my Mac world the last 20+ years

Same with me.
My Mac has never let me down (unless I spill coffee on the keyboard of my MacBook Pro)
