Reporting Dead Vaquita

gringorio - 2-17-2018 at 07:55 PM

Hola everyone,

Just wanted to put this out there: Anyone who lives full time or is just visiting the beaches from San Felipe to Puertecitos between now and May (any time actually), please feel free to message me if you come across a dead vaquita on the water or on the beach. Please take photos and mark location with GPS if you can even if you're not sure if it is a dolphin or vaquita.

I will get the information to PROFEPA and Sea Shepherd so that they can investigate and possibly recover the body for a necropsy.

Below are photos that show dead vaquita. Dolphins have much longer rostrums and adults are larger than adult vaquita.

Thank you!

Wow, cute little guy, I have never actually seen a real shot of one before, very smart ass cool looking face, is that red on the tail typical of all vaquita

The red on the tail and forehead are from wounds from the net it drowned in.
