Loreto hotels

elgatoloco - 3-2-2005 at 09:59 PM

This is actually MRS. elgatoloco asking: Where can my 5 girl friends and I stay in Loreto (for a reasonable rate) in town(on the beach)? EGL and I usually stay at the Villas de Loreto (we LOVE that place) but the girls won't have any wheels and that's too far away from the "action".

Thanks for any help- Bajabarb

Now as much as I love Loreto, what action are you referring to? Have stayed once, and I am no help cause I can't recall the name, at one of the hotels right in the center of town on the main street leading in right across from the church. Very clean, friendly, and fair price. Now you know that Villa's Loreto have bikes for you to use...

You can try the Oasis, Su Kasa, and La Pinta for the hotels in front of downtown and waterfront. Did I leave one out???

Yep, I have called around to a bunch of places and they were all booked. I finally found a room in a lower scale hotel (I think) called the Junipero Hotel. We're only there for one night, so it should be OK.

The Junipero's a fine hotel for my money -- which I would rather not spend on an ocean view. It's got a fine balcony with a big cooler of drinkable water. Was perfect for us coming in from the outback.

Didn't see a lot of "action" anywhere, but that expensive hotel (also near the church, I think) with the roof garden bar and restaurant should not be missed. You could toss someone in the pool to create a little action.

With my recent problems, I?ve been learning more about econo. rooms in Loreto. El Moro is clean and runs 35-55 $ it is only a block from the Malicon. Across from the dentists office next to the Bakery (Garcia) on Miguel Hidalgo the dentist?s wife, Mercedes has two fresh new rooms for only $30. Too small for you, but they are the finest rooms for the price that I have EVER seen in Mexico. A little noisy because the street is too nice. Avoid the B and B on the beach north of La Pinta, the termite infested, see-through towel, sorry no breatfast today rooms start at $55.

Complete trip report to follow if I ever get my car home.

Try the Iguana Inn (www.iguanainn.com). Three bungalows, very clean and within a block of everything! They run $40-$45 per night or Hotel Quinta San Fransisco right on the malecon (gailwright4@hotmail.com) about $40 per night.
Good Luck

Talked to Julia yesterday.

Iguana is booked solid and turning away repeat customers for lack of availability. She says they are planning to add two more bungalows ASAP.

This is great for Loreto!

Mrs. Elgato Loco (Barb) again. Just wanted to thank everyone who responded to my query. It turns out the "girls" bailed when they found out the price of the airfare. You'll notice "girls" was in quotation marks just as "action"
was in my original post. These were meant to denote irony. The last time I was in Loreto, things were pretty quiet. My friends just didn't want to have to take taxis to get around...
Anyway, I'm still going (after the book signing at the Pyramid Resort) with my honeybun in the EGLmobile, so all is good. The just might be some Agua Verde in our future...

P.S.

elgatoloco - 3-5-2005 at 08:27 PM

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention the time I stayed at the La Pinta (many moons ago in a pre-EGL life). They turned off the power at 7pm and after that NOTHING worked (no water, no facilities, no lights).
Also, in the morning, after showering and padding around the room with my bare feet, the soles of same were stained a deep brick red. The towels and bed "linens" (ironic, remember?) were thin and grey. Not Loreto's finest...

Hotel Junipero

capn.sharky - 3-5-2005 at 10:40 PM

This is a great place and is located in front of the Mission or church. Rooms are very nice and air conditioned. It is owned by Mr. Robinson who has the material and cement store accross the street. Runs about $40.00 per night. Yes, the La Pinta is run down, over priced and a last resort. The Plaza Loreto is also nice and clean. The Italian hotel with the pool on the roof is over $200 per night and way too much for Loreto. Motel Brenda is $20 per night and clean but not too fancy. Loreto is always pretty quiet---if you are looking for some action, I suggest another town---like La Paz.

tim40 - 3-6-2005 at 12:20 AM

Thanks Capt Sharky, I could not recall the name of the hotel. I think it is one of the lessor known gems.

captain sharky and elgatoloco!

Gato- Re- La Pinta you may be refering to a LONG TIME AGO because La Pinta is not like that anymore

Sharky- La PINTA is a nice hotel. When's the last time you stayed there? You're off on your pricing for Posada de las Flores too, and recoomend the Brenda?? for a girls vacation? you need re-educating!

Depends on the price range you want here's the best hotels from highest to lowest in price, that girls would be interested in:

El Camino Real $241/ dbl high season, all inclusive
Whales Inn $210/ dbl high season, all inclusive
Posada de Las Flores $160/ breakfast included
Loreto Playa $140/breakfast included
Villas de Loreto $105/dbl high season
La Pinta $109/ dbl deluxe all seasons
Hacienda Suites $79/ dbl all season
Cabanas de Loreto $65/ dbl
Coco Cabanas $60/dbl
Iguana Inn $45/dbl

These are not all of them I represent but ones I'd send "girls" to. I'm a girl too and know what you want. They'd feel comfortable in clean, friendly and not oudated surroundings. All creature comforts in place and the quality increases with pricing.

Spa massages and facials can also be arranged...

You should "just do it!"

We just got home from Loreto today. We spent 7 nights with Gail wright at Hotel Quinta San Francisco. 5 rooms across from the marina on the malecon, easy walk to town. Nothing fancy but very clean and great location and scenery. No TV's but we would rather people watch on the malecon and she makes fresh hot coffee for you in the morning. and all this at $39.00 a night. Can't beat it. Try it you'll like it. Mikey likes it,k:spingrin::bounce:

I would pick the Hotel Iguana of those on your list. As for the La Pinta, I still think it is overpriced. Everytime I go there is seems to be empty. Last time I stayed there? Oh, maybe 15 years ago. My wife and I stayed at the Brenda and it was clean and cheap. No frills though. As for La Posada--the Italian Hotel---that price was given to me by the manager of the hotel several years ago when it first opened up. They probably lowered the price so they could get someone to stay there. $160 still seems a bit pricey for Loreto---but as you said on another thread "Loreto is undergoing chages now. They even have capiccino in Loreto now---somewhere. I think its next to the alumanim place. Excuse my spelling.
