The hike starts through a really beautiful area of cactus and ocotillo. It almost looks like a garden. The path is pretty well marked with stones but I can definitely see getting lost in here.

I only hiked a 3 miles round trip but it's fairly rough going in the initial wash with boulders.

I'll post some video later when I get more bandwidth but the first sight and sound of the water was pretty awesome.

Some fixed ropes helped with smooth granite sides.

I didn't use the last one as the water was chilly and I didn't feel like wading in to try it. A really beautiful place.

Glad that you were able to reach the waterfall. The waterfall is known as the "entrance falls" of Diablo Canyon. Lots of good hiking beyond the falls all the way to Picacho del Diablo. Need several days for that hike.

So, how much time did you take for the round trip walk?
Well, the entrance fall has change substantially (again). I have been there countless times and have never seen the water so high. My take is there has been very little water flow and there has not been a big surge to scour out the cavity below the falls. Previously the end of the cable would be at neck high and the pendulum would have your feet on solid dry rock so you could scoot over to where the water drains over the rock. Now your shoes would be wet and traction would be marginal.
If the water is not to deep maybe it would be possible to scramble up the water flow? I would guess that maneuver would be difficult because that that area is very polished granite with no grip. It has always been an issue to get up the fall due to the slick surface.

I'm not sure exactly how long I spent in the canyon. I kind of lost time as it was such a magical place. Maybe a couple of hours.

That last section definitely looks tricky. The water was really cold so I can't imagine going up through the flow but it would be fun to watch someone try.

Named after the mountain it is next to, El Picacho del Diablo, the highest mountain in Baja at 10,154'. It has two peaks (the second is only 2 feet shorter). Looks like Devil's Horns, maybe?
