Need ride-Loreto to Mulege for kayak trip

Sparetimewanted - 4-8-2018 at 10:15 PM

Am driving down on April 21 to Mulege, dropping off a friend and the kayaks, then driving solo to Loreto to drop off car, than I need to catch a ride back to Mulege to start the paddle trip south. Am thinking taxi too costly, bus an option but slow and their schedule may not get me back to Mulege in time to start the trip Sunday.

If someone heading north that day, maybe around 11:00 or so, and is flexible and has a spot in their car I am happy to pay for gas and then some. This would be Sunday April 22nd.

Gracias

I've had several do this...

the smartest put a motorcycle in the pickup...
drove down to loreto ...
left the truck there at a hotel
rode the motorcycle back...
picked up the motorcycle on the way home

get a SPOT device to track your trip

The bus is pretty easy and not much slower than driving if you time it right. I think you can look up the schedule online to plan on when to be at the bus station.

If you're launching from concepcion ask the driver to drop you at your beach so you don't have to figure out how to get back from mulege. When I've done this I've shuttled the car the day before we launched, then camped at concepcion while we leisurly got everything ready. Packing always takes forever the first day...

Bob and Susan's idea is a real good one!

The bus goes a couple of times a day and here is the phone number for Aguila I got off the internet.

If this is the way you choose to go purchase your ticket asap. This makes actually having a seat more of a reality as pre purchased passengers have priority. If its a last minute deal you can usually sit on the top step across from driver. I did this from BV to San Ignacio and back. Just make sure the driver knows where you need to get off. Also have the correct fare change.

Sounds like a good adventure plan.....but you might want to use days rather than hours to plan your trip....who knows what twists and surprises will occur along the way....

What are you doing for potable water?

If the winds are howling, how many sleeps are you prepared to have on a sheltered/exposed beach until the winds abate?

Have fun...
