How hot is the Pacific coast in early July?

Thinking about running the Seven Sisters around the 4th.

Generally speaking the pacific coast is warm during the day and cool at night. A great time to run the coast. Here is a trip report I did from July 2009. I didn't do the whole coast run but it might give you an ideal of what it's like.

Nomads squarecircle, XRphillang and I did a coast run from Santa Rosalillita north to Punta Canoas in July of 2015. Weather was great. Like I said warm days and cool nights.

Look for the fog bank or wall of gloom as you near the Pacific during the summer. When it is hot in the center of the [peninsula, it sucks in the moisture over the ocean. Just a mile from the beach, you could be in the sunshine again.

This seems to be primarily north of Guerrero Negro. Bahia Asuncion and south does not get the daily fog or gloom, at least not all day like the Seven Sisters and north seems to.

Last August we rode some trails between San Vicente to San Quintin and the weather was perfect on the beach. It got a little warm in the mountains when we headed back to valle t on the crossover road.

That is one of my favorite sections to ride after doing it last month! I really want to go back and spend a few days camping while driving the coast. With warmer summer temps it would be hard not to stop and swim at every beach.

P.s. the water is very cold. Even in summer.

July is generally a beautiful month on the central Pacside as depending on the year, the water temps havent warmed up yet so the air temps are cooler than much of Baja in July....and those crappy winds of April/May have calmed.

WAter temps usually rise in August but with some el nino years, we have seen the ocean warm up as early as late June.

I was sharing my only experience with the Pacific Coast in July, which happens to have taken place in Todos Santos. Admittedly I've yet to meet any of the Seven Sisters.

Very ture Ed north Baja Coyote Cals area I can remember only 2 to 5 days a year it is hot. So great place to ride and not deal with the heat but water always cold. Go inland oven.:)

Someone gave me this track coming down from El Rosario. Anyone know if it's truck friendly? And you can keep heading South?

I was on that track in 2014.
Punta San Carlos is just south of the map edge, where the road ends.
The track is going up to the mesa above San Carlos where you can drive to the edge for a great view.
Another road heads from the mesa to Hwy. 1 at El Progreso (Mission San Fernando access). It is a long, slow drive. This is shown on the Baja Almanac maps or just zoom in on Google Earth.

I wonder how hard it is to get from San Carlos to Punta Canoas along the coast.

Punta San Carlos looks like it has a bunch of house and some cool cliffs.

I have done that route on Motos in a truck air down very bumpy Should be fun. There where a few wash out just need find way around. That was a few years ago. Where the Map at the end crosses red line, there was new fence. went around it to do single track trail I'm thinking same area.

There is no direct land route between San Carlos and Santa Catarina Landing. Read about Mike Younghusband and Don Kay needeing a rescue between the two points.

So we'd need to go back inland and then back down to the coast? If so, I'm almost thinking we should just come in off a different spot further down the highway then El Rosario.

I found the area from san carlos to el rosario to be pretty uninteresting and really silty dusty. I suppose everyone should do it once though.....

Correct, use the Santa Catarina road (just west of the Guayaquil road). See my map of the region which shows these roads... my 30 maps for 2018 are in the Nomad Road Conditions forum.

Good reports thanks.
Generally speaking think San Diego weather.
I notice it to be about 2-3 degrees warmer in San Quintin.
So if you interpolate that distance as being 2-3 degrees warmer the farther south you go you should be about right.
The marine layer affect has similar predictably.
The farther south the sooner it clears until you get far enough that there is none.
Keeping in mind that the Tropic of Cancer crosses a bit south of La Paz.
So... it's literally "tropical" down there. Hot, humid and perfect.
The couple of trips I've done south of El Rosario were all earlier than May and the marine layer never burned off. It was just a tad cold, windy, lonely... and perfect.
It depends on would mood your in I guess...

4th of July in the south zone is overcast and hazy. Water is cold until end of Sept and then its not really warm like So Cal. A mile from the beach its 100 degrees.

Long ago I was surprised to learn that the ocean water temperature actually gets colder just south of the border. The "Southern California Bight" is a sort of a giant eddy that allows the water to warm up offshore San Diego and LA. South of Tijuana the cold Pacific current returns along shore and results in cooler ocean water temperatures that extend for quite a long ways to the south.

It is usually really cold here in La Bocana, BCS until August. Well, although the wind is cool, it is nice to be out during the day but downright cold at night.

That being said, the day before yesterday we had santa ana conditions and it was so darn hot and humid that we actually turned the A/C on! Bliss. Yesterday, temps were normal.
