What is req'd in terms of paperwork at the Mexican border to bring for my own use (travelling solo) my buddies 5th wheel to Baja for the winter.

You will need a letter from him saying you can bring it down. It should be notarized and include the VIN numbers, license number etc. You should also
have Mexican insurance on it if it's of any value.

Don't forget the trailer's current registration also.

I am pretty sure that the trailer needs to be declared on your Mexican insurance policy, even if you have liability only.

Wow, that's a true friend. I don't know anyone I'd loan one of my vehicles to, especially to take into Baja.

Not sure but now do you have to do a TIP on a camper or RV to come in for a longer period of tiem??? Thought that was happening now.
We brought our 5th wheel to Mulege about 9 years ago and back to Colo. 8 months later... WILL NOT do it again. Roads were bad enough then but now in
BAJA NORTE they have been worse...
I see a lot of em traveling Mex 1 all winter but just us maybe, not going to do it again... Too much stress with the roads...
For sure I would not borrow one to travel BAJA with... friendship might go south in a hurry..
But as I said, there are many along with large motor homes travelin BAJA....
Good luck with whatever you do....
